Small question.. I'm in the market for buying a new video card. Should i go ahead and wait for the FX cards to come out from geforce? Or still go with the ATI 9700 Pro? In most tests the ATI did better. Then again the GeForce might have better drivers/software(ATI was never exactly famous for that). I'm in no rush, just need to get a new one by the time planetside comes out. Any input would be great. Thanks guys.

Get the ATI card. It has better performance under more stress (antiscopic filtering, higher resolutions and stuff like that). Also, Gforce is a generation behind. Their card that is equivalent to the 9700 will cost way more. and DON't buy a 9700, buy a 9500 pro. Through the use of software, the 9500 pro can be tweaked to be EXACTLY the same as the 9700 pro.

Wrong forum, but:
If you decide to get the 9700 Pro, wait for the FXes to come out. I guarantee they will be about $100 cheaper then.

FX= nvidias very first flop in my mind.
I mean common it takes to pci spots adn the fan is loud. It doenst beat on the 9700 much and the 9800 will blow it away so if you want top of the line go for the 9800.
O and i have always gotten Nvidia but ATI is looking much better right now and im gonna go get the 9500 128 mg 1 week b4 ps come out

^Good advice. You should wait and get the better card for less money, or even wait for the 9800 to come out and see if that lower's prices on 9700's.

Right now you can get a 9700 Pro on pricewatch.com for $277. They just released the specs on the 9800 Pro in this month's issue of Maximum PC, and it pretty much blew the GeForce FX away. To quote them, "let's see, here. One card is fast but noisy (NVIDIA). The second card is faster and not noisy (ATI). The choice is clear." The set price for both is about $400, and also keep in mind that the GeForce FX takes up an extra PCI slot due to it's huge-honkin fan.

Go to the rage forums and stuff... you will learn more there. I have an Radeon 8500 so I never really researched it. But im 100% sure you can make a 9500 pro exactly the same as a 9700 pro. Look up Radeon 9500 pro tweaks or something. or go to the RAGE3D forums and search for it
