How about we wait till beta and we have a hands on before we start screaming about this or that being over powered?
I keep reading thread after thread about how this or that will cause greifing, or that A) will be too powerful compared to B)
I cant be the only one thinking this can I?
I fully expect to receive a mass of abuse etc for this.
But can we wait till beta or we get our hands on it before we judge the game from Alpha footage and a few video clips with a handful or people in before we grab the pitch forks and scream for blood?

How about we close down this forum since only people who have actually played the game really have anything to talk about? If people want to discuss things with the limited information we have then it is their choice, this is how they want to spend their time. If you don't want people to discuss things like this but still see the newsflow you can go to a gaming newssite or something.

Blasphemy! Burn the heretic!
But seriously, I do agree with you. Its too early for people to start bitching and moaning about this we know less about than quantum mechanics.

I'm not saying that we can't discuss it at all, far from it. But a lot of people are talking about absolutes rather than discussions.
I'm probably not getting what im trying to say across very well....

How about we stop telling people to wait for beta and let them voice their concerns now? I think that'd be a good idea. You know, because we're on forums and stuff.

OP has a point, just look at this pointless thread (http://www.planetside-universe.com/showthread.php?t=45199) making claims before even being able to play and test said proposed concern...oh, wait... it was made by you... what a coincidence... trolling douche is both troll and douche...

There is a difference between discussing hypotheticals and suggesting possible solutions to potential problems we see, versus making unfounded claims that x will break the game or y is definitively unbalanced with no good comparable example to give as proof.
The devs haven't even been focusing on balance issues until recently, and will need data and feedback from larger scale beta tests before they can really nail a lot of this stuff down.
However there are still some things which are clearly design choices and not merely some static slider which can just be tweaked in beta. There are also some things which can be clearly seen in gameplay footage without a need to get a hands on look.
It's just as foolish to claim that there are no legitimate balance topics that we can currently dissect as it is to scream and bitch about every little thing which doesn't yet seem up to par in this unpolished build of the game.
In general I agree with DodgeIt's sentiment that we need to keep level heads and see how a lot of this stuff plays out in beta, but there are still a lot of things to discuss so long as we keep some perspective on our (and the developers) current lack of hard data on large scale playtests.

I'm not saying that either, i'm just saying people could say "I think THIS could be a problem, how do you think they will handle THIS or implement THIS" Rather than going "THIS will ruin the game. What the hell are they thinking?!" on things we don't know for sure are going to be in the game or are the final product?

There aren't too many people like that on here. Just don't worry about them and the problem will go away by itself. They can say what they'd like, but they should know they're going to get flamed and trolled. Just no point in saying 'wait for beta'. That bandwagon is getting annoying.

That thread served its purpose. Now the tones in the threads are different, many have understood that vehicles will not be as expendable as they were in PS1. Also that thread wasn't a whine, it was a statement about how things will likely be, informing the masses if you will. No matter how much flack i took in that thread the message still got through and I have no problems with tons of idiots coming in and saying that I am at their level.

Thank you for your opinion. Until we get to play the game first hand we wont really know how often we can pull vehicles. There might very well be certs that maximize how often you can pull a certain vehicle. This is something we just dont know yet.

We know how often we can pull vehicles in the current build, we don't know how often we can pull vehicles in future builds. If you don't allow me to argue using the current build as an example what kind of discussion do you really want?

We know how often an uncerted low battle rank character in an alpha build of the game can pull vehicles. This really doesnt tell us a whole lot.

Yeah sure, we haven't played the game. We've only watched videos and read articles about the game. Does that entitle us to bitch about the game? HELL YEAH IT DOES.
We've waited for this game for a very long time and therefore alot of us are really sensitive when it comes to this game we want it to be as good as it possibly can.
Now alot of people - like yourself - seems to believe that the developers are gods. They are not. But they are indeed quite talented. And you know the best part? They have an amazing community interaction, to this forum, that no other studio that I know of has. So don't get me wrong I have tons of faith in the developers abilities. But sometimes, something might actually slip by their eyes, they might miss a crucial gameplay portion of the game that we might actually spot. Or perhaps we come up with a great idea that would really benefit the game, something even Matt Higby couldn't conjure up? Then we would have helped in making the game better as well! Last but not least we can give the developers feedback on how the community feels about the game!
You know that when you create something you almost always love it. Wether it's a short movie you make at school that you think is sooo funny but it actually sucks, or it's a game (Revelations 2012 anyone?).
It's important for both us - and the developers - that we continue to bitch because it might just do nothing, but it might just change everything.

Let's wait for beta to... post in official PS2 beta forums !!!
:p
This is a fansite, what would you expect fans to do ? Make less threads when exciting video content is released ?
:)
A better idea would actually be to consolidate threads so the same topics do not keep reappearing every 2 weeks or so when new people arrive on the forums. Unfortunately, just like your controversial idea, it's as unpractical and unlikely to happen. As a matter of fact, your idea keeps popping up every 2 weeks if not more often.

Are you even listening to yourself?
"I don't like what I see or hear but I trust that the developers have covered this problem through some means unknown to me so it isn't worth talking about".
That last thread was closed for a reason. You guys don't need to rehash the discussion from it.
We aren't discussing the same things as in that thread, we are just discussing what is worth discussing on a forum dedicated to an unreleased game. I am not so dumb that I'd bring that up again.

In no way do i think the Devs are gods, i'm not sure how you decided that?
What i'm saying is that a lot of people are talking in definitives rather than having a discussion.
Coming up with new ideas is great, but trying to fix a problem that may not exist, or to start ranting and raving about a feature, that we dont know is in there or not?
I want this game to be as good as possible, i want to have constructive discussions about aspects, or perceived aspects of the game. A healthy debate is a good thing.
But screaming about something that is based on pure speculation is not. Discussing the speculation? Great, fine, etc. Not going "This feature will ruin the game!!!" When we have no idea its there or not?

Which topics are you talking about, really?#
Its not so much the topics, while there are a few that instantly go to the line that said thing will ruin game, its mostly some of the replies and indeed series of replies to topics which can, and often do, start off in a positive vein.
We don't need threads complaining about complaining.
