Hey,

I need some advice on what new headset to get. I don't care if they can hear an ant fart. I simple want the most comfortable headset available for gaming.

So any recommendations would be appreciated.

I just got these a few days ago. They are extremely comfortable, the ear cups are deep cushioned and comfortable, same with the headband. You can wear these for hours without feeling any discomfort. Most comfortable headphones I've ever bought, IMO.

The sound is rich, full, and amazing. Very crisp highs and adjustable bass. It goes very deep if you max out the booster. You can add a 7.1 surround sound adapter for extra money, if you so wish.

The mic on it is very flexible and is crystal clear.

The headset itself is very sturdy and feels like you should have paid at least $100.

If you feel like spending a bit more money, there is a 7.1 DSS wireless headset for $130.

I couldn't either. I thought it would be another 'meh' headset, but it screams professional quality in all aspects.

Perhaps... but in this case, opinions are equal. I've never seen any reasons for the TB hate... are they too mainstream and successful?

Turtle beach are known for quality.

...in their marketing campaign. They manufacturer a mediocre product with terrible quality control, print "GAMING" on the box, then charge 2-3 times what it's worth. And people buy it. A lot.

If you're looking low budget, there are some good bang-for-your-buck options from sony and koss.

If comfort is #1, i'd take a look the Audio Technica ADH-700, or Beyer Dynamic DT770

That's a very generalized statement and very opinionated.

What's wrong with printing gaming on the box? As for charging 2-3 times what it's worth... let me tell ya... this X12 was worth every penny and more... I would pay twice as much for it if I knew how good it was. Extremely comfortable, very sturdy, and amazing sound. Plus, they look great. $60 is definitely not an expensive price for this quality at all.

On the two you listed, you say TB prices things 2-3 times more than what they're worth? As Pella said, a lot of people don't care if you can hear an ant fart. Plus, where's the mic? I'd price those headphones at $70 absolute maximum.

But please, list some examples of TB pricing their headphones for more than they are worth and I will gladly step down in defeat.

I'm actually in the market too for a headset. I've had a Audio Technica for over a year now, but I need something new. Not having a attached microphone, is killing me as the wires always get tangled. I got so frustrated I rip apart my clip on microphone to untangle it. Thats pretty bad right?

The set I think I'm going to get is the Steelseries Siberia V2 (http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/40914-steelseries-siberia-v2-full-size-headset-review.html). Seems to have a good reputation and I can get it for under $50 from China via eBay ($100 in states), but its going to take 1-3 weeks to get here. I can hold that long personally.

Are you saying you have a mic that clips on your shirt? Yeah, that's bad, get a headset. So much easier to use and more convenient.

That one you listed doesn't have a mic it seems, I'd go for something cheaper, just as comfortable, cooler looking, built-in mic, and 2% less audio quality. *cough X12's cough* (based off $100 pricetag)

I'm talking about the wires lol. I had a clip on one with my shirt. Be it tied onto the headset cord (had fittings for that) or somewhere else both cords always got tangled somehow. I don't know how, but it happened. I just can't take it. I never really cared for desk mounted ones either.

You like it a lot Eclipse? I almost got one a month ago, but said screw it and I would wait for a deal (didn't want to wait on shipping). Nothing has popped up, so I think I'm just going to get it. Looks pretty good. What color do you have? I think everything is pretty ugly besides the white, the white/blue isn't bad but still looks odd.

I edited my post like 18 times because I've been up for 30 hours and can't think straight... but definitely don't waste your time with clip on mics.... they're terrible.

Just because I've said it 5 other times here I'll say it to you... get a pair of X12's... they won't disappoint. Built in mic and great sound quality with comfort.

Wireless = Win

I'm not looking for a drawn out discussion, and I could care less about winning an argument over the internet. Just giving my $.02 based on past experiences with headphones ranging from cheap crap to fairly high end. Don't take my word for it - there's plenty of good info out there, and for any budget.

Doing the research for this purchase is your responsibility, not mine. However, TB makes a lot of money relying on that fact that do not.

What does that last part have to do with anything? You made a blanket statement saying TB headphones are overpriced yet terrible, that's your job to back up, not mine.

I owned a 5.1 TB headset years ago. I actually liked it quite a bit, but it feel apart on me after a year or so. I haven't really looked at them, since however.

I've given up on headsets. Always meh sound quality, always breaking at the damn in-line volume thing.

When my current one goes I'm getting a cheap boom mic and some decent stand-alone headphones.
