Does anyone know which country the servers are actually based?
Europe (western) - will it be Germany again (I assume Werner was German for instance).
US - west and east coast again?
Asia - Japan and other?
Eastern Europe?
Any ideas if there will be a UK one (so I can have sweet ping in this developing country, i.e. UK).

You can't have a server called Werner in the Netherlands, surely.
It should be called Jasper, or Tim or something.

Werner is a name of a crater on the moon. So no idea what your on about.
And yes Werner was Netherlands. Which with there super broadband and network infrastructure i would rather it there.
35ms and 0% Packetloss i cant wait.
Just do a simple forum search. Much of this information is out there. Werner was in the Netherlands. However with the Pro7 business there is a chance it's moved to Germany and the Devs have already hinted that due to current technology there will be no breed to have west and east servers; simple US ones. I believe it was Hamma himself who deduced those will likely be in Vegas. We've had no official confirmation on those yet (probably because what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas) but that is what we know.

Eponym Johannes Werner
Werner is a prominent lunar impact crater that lies in the rugged south-central highlands of the Moon. It is almost joined with the crater Aliacensis to the southeast, and the pair form a rugged valley in the intervening gap. Due west of Werner is the distorted Regiomontanus, and to the north is the remains of Blanchinus. It is from the Eratosthenian period, which lasted from 3.2 to 1.1 billion years ago. The crater is named after the 15th-century German mathematician and astronomer Johannes Werner.[1]
Has fuck all todo with this thread. But wanted to point it out for you.

Sorry I can probably find a better link. Didn't realise we were discussing something of huge importance here. I personally know Werner is a German name, as I am from Europe and being Swedish (hence educated :D).
Back on topic: so, German seems a potential candidate for a server then? Should be sub 100 ping then. Would prefer 30-40.

As long as they are in Europe i dont care where they are.
Only because Werner is a commonly used name in Germany/Austria doesnt mean they put the server there ;)
Edit says: Btw., if you connect to a UK/ITA/NL server you still have a ping bout 30-80. And not only germans are playing in europe, dont be selfish :D

It is, but the Werner server was still located in Amsterdam. ;) IMO there's a pretty good chance PS2 Euro servers will also be there again (which I would welcome), but with Pro7Sat1 in the boat, servers in Germany may be an option.
As for US servers, there has been talk (some of it from RadarX) that all US servers will be in one place, so no East coast / West coast differentiation. Which to me makes sense only from an economic standpoint honestly.
Oceanic and East Asian servers - I don't think there's any info about those other than "yeah we've talked about it".

I see this Pro7Sat1 coming up in a few discussions. What the heck is it?

I would also guess Netherlands, but since it's gonna be Pro7, it might be Germany. Either way middle-Europe I'd say.
I'm gonna assassinate someone if they plan to take it to the UK or Ireland or somewhere around there.
Pro7 is the European publisher who will be hosting Planetside 2 in Europe. Pro7 is mostly known for the TV and radiostations it's behind. EU Planetside 2 will use different currency to the SOE hosted Planetside 2, but Station cash supposedly will be converted into this new currency if you have any. All SOE games will be moved under Pro7 in Europe. If you wish, you are supposedly allowed to play on US servers if you dont want to play on EU despite being from EU.
Patches etc might take some days longer to land on EU, but SOE has assured that they are still in charge of the balancing and all that kinda stuff.

So basically outsourced. I work with outsourcing stuff. Never quite works....as well as the ...ehm...client managing it.

I don't think anyone here would actually prefer Pro7 handling the game rather than SOE directly. There are so many examples oh how other games have gone wrong by just that, but in a way the Pro7 staff that has been here talking to us have managed to give some hope (for me) and at the very least I hope they wont mess it up at least too bad :D
I'd rather pay SOE instead of Pro7, but I'm not gonna take the extra latency just for that. Overall I'm not very concerned about the Pro7 deal, but still would rather prefer SOE to handle it in EU as well, but oh well.

Aye, my past experience certainly doesn't make me particulary comfortable with a different company handling the EU servers. But I guess time will tell.
As to which country? I'm guessing Germany.

Im guessing Hamburg Germany. Pro7 already have server halls there.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but both the German and the Dutch language are Germanic languages.
On topic: the next 'Werner' will most likely be located in Germany.

I just hope there's a server in Japan, Korea or Taiwan... Don't like the idea of relying on a Chinese server for a low ping :-/

PS2: Wagner ?
I also suspect it will be located in Germany where Pro7 has most of its staff.

Just to put that out again: the EU servers will be hosted and maintained by SOE, not Pro7.
Who will host and manage the servers, ProSiebenSat.1 Games or SOE?
SOE will continue to host and manage the European servers for all games under this agreement.
