If anything, I think this video shows the game needs to set up a very good tutorial to help people acclimate to the game. This guy had no idea what he was doing.

All the same, I'm not really that concerned about his team killing, as it's pre-beta and lots of people are screwing around, and no real penalty system has been built in yet.

It's one guy who is new and excited. I don't think he deserves to be banned for this unless he is a repeat offender. I will admit that I'm a bit peeved that he got in before me though.

Sorry for the strong title but Physorac posted a video on youtube with planetside 2 beta. I just wanted to inform the Devs incase he does not have authorization to do so.

He does not seem to be an informed reviewer by any stretch of the imagination. He does not even know what kind of game it is. Also spending most of the time team killing is not helpful for the game.

I have checked out the video in question and he highlights something interesting.

This guy as we can see if compleatly new and does not know what to do. This is what a large ammount of people will be like when the game releases.

I wonder what the devs will do to ease a new player into the game.

I definitely agree that there needs to be some sort of tutorial to show new players what to do, maybe even a guided video of some sort that they can have access to. I think that tribes does something similar to this and it helps for all the visual learners or as I call them.. lazy :)

That's kinda disappointing. Seems like he thinks it's some sort of PvE oriented game from an FPS perspective.

As for the easing of new people into the game, that opening splash screen, right after character creation, attempted to explain how to pull a vehicle, open your map, set waypoints, and what bases to head towards to actually see some combat.

Personally, this sort of video is why, at least at the extremely early stages, such as the tech test, I think there should be a slightly more advanced screening process than just your specs. I understand the tech test is primarily to see how the game runs on a multitude of different systems, and while there's some minor benefit to the data collected just standing around in the faction warpgates, you miss out on a lot of the arguably more important data from the high stress combat portions.

Not necessarily that important in the grand scheme of things with closed beta approaching, but still...this guy seems much closer to being a waste of an invite than even mildly helpful.

Of course, I may be biased because of how worried I got after I saw him choose my faction...
