Snow.... so excited for snow.

I havent played PS1 since 2003, but I really miss those Ceryshen mountains. Cause you know, it was like the only continent where it was so freaking hard to move tanks and heavy armor up those mountain passes. I know we'll have areas like that on all the PS2 maps though :D

I love this fucking engine with all of my cold, blackened heart. Crytek and Unreal can choke on a sliver of pineapple for all I care.

This scene could only get better if they do the Lost Planet thing and marching around in deeper snow actually has it cling to your armor, at least for a little while.

What he said, also I think for Planetside players, we know what Esamir used to look like, and it was an unimpressive low visibility hunk of white with some sparse trees and rocks. Seeing sunlight bounce off of icy slopes the way it should just reminds us how much better this game is going to look than what we got used to :)

Lots of games have winter maps/continents/... All their screenshots would sorta look like the one posted.
You can't tell what's properly lighted/geometrical or whats just plain textures. You're also unaware if this is ingame footage or if it's rendered in some other software and if so how much of an accurate representation it is.
Let alone how it interacts with other objects, how bases fit in, etc...

When still in middle school in the class aesthetics it was summed up pretty nicely:
You have people that go to a museum/old city and go "WOW" basicly because it is famous and expected. You can call it global sense of art.
You have other people that have a more personal sense of art.

Now neither vision is wrong, I'm just still not seeing where I should break my jaw.

Fair counterpoint. When I see pictures like that, I can't help but imagine all of the stuff that it could be, where as other people just see what is there (which isn't much, I'll be honest). However, I think the screenshot does do a good job of capturing atmosphere. But again, a lot of people might not see that either.

Regardless, I am excited because it is a good start and if they put as much thought and detail into Easmir as they did with Indar, I think it is going to be a very fun continent to wage war on. ;)
