That being said, I am officially super-excited for 10 PM EST. Can not WAIT for this day to roll on through so we can finally see this beast.

What do you feel will be included, and what do you think the trailer will show in order to get all the newcomers to the series to be interested? This is likely the first legitimate, full steam ahead PR push directed towards newcomers.

I just really... REALLY hope they're able to convey the scale appropriately. Every game trailer shows ridiculous things that never actually happen in the game, we need people to understand that the ludicrous number of combat units visible in the trailer is the same number that will be on one map...

I'm thinking that the trailer will be between 3-5 minutes. Given the high quality of the animation and detail, more than 5 minutes seems very unlikely to me. But hey; I'd be thrilled if it was! I'm hoping that they basically show every class doing something representative (medics healing, engineers repairing, light assault leaping around, etc). And I hope to see plenty of each faction gaining and losing the upper hand during the battles, so everyone is reminded that SOE is not painting any faction as the good guys or bad guys. Very excited!

Althought really nice to look at, I am not a fan of cinimatic trailers for video games they can mis-represent so much. I expect the first miniute to be cinimatic followed by a (I hope not to quick) cuts scene segment of in-game footage.

I would really just prefer they go old school Battlefield Trailer style though, all in game footage, but it's to late for that.

If only this were true. I'm also hoping that it will reveal some sort of official date. Clegg mentioned on his twitter that "people will know about it" after the trailer. That tells me that they may be found some big, previously unknown piece of info that will appeal to the masses.

Don't hold your breath for any announcement. They don't even know if beta is going to start Monday or Tuesday or some other day next week. There is no way they will be able to announce a launch date then. In fact, I'd bet we just get a "Coming Soon" which we will all giggle about.

I went back last night and watched my all time favorite game trailer, SWTOR - Deceived, and that was about 4 minutes. If this trailer is about that long, I'll be thrilled. If it is 2 mins., I'll probably be a bit disappointed.

I think I'm not the only one here who is absolutely not interested in CGI trailers. Honestly, WoW and SW-TOR trailers were amazing, but how does it relate to the real game ? It's just a commercial, and it is not targeted to us. Putting countdown on the site and advertising on twitter and facebook is preaching to the choir. It is just necessary for the videogame websites to relay it, and for the average gamer unaware to what Planetside 2 is to be tempted.

Cinematic trailers for FPSs typically make me cringe they're so cheesy. I liked the cinematics for WoW because that whole fantasy setting is based on being epic and is pretty self-aware. Seeing soldiers, even ones in the future, doing super badass, ridiculous stuff is just...meh. Feels too much like a cheesy action movie.

Game trailers are targeted at people who haven't heard anything about the game in question. So hopefully it gets a lot of attention and nets us a lot of additional players.

But I'm not expecting a lot out of it myself. It's a huge challenge to communicate the breadth of a game like PS2 in a 3 min CGI movie. Also I think Smed tweeted that they outsourced it, so expect it to be slightly different from the PS2 that we know (read: small things we'll never see in-game like spaceships and stuff).

I'm looking forward to watching it. Just keeping in mind it's not representative of actual gameplay (just like any game's CGI trailer).

Quite impressed its getting the treatment. I was at the cinema the other day catching Batman and an ad for Black Ops 2 came up. The whole time I was watching it I wasn't thinking BO2, I was thinking "damn I wish this was PS2 being shown off!" Who knows, maybe they'll splash the cash after this premier.

The full trailer prediction:

Key points: The unique elements (imo, 1. MAXes (+flamethrowers baby), 2. Galaxys and Gal drops, 3. a shit load of players in a consistent world! And somehow get across the ludicrous numbers aren't just about making a CGI trailer look good, but are a reality, nay, an inevitability. I don't know if anyone realises how massively popular this game is going to be, even us on the boards.

Well, I can see orbital strikes being in the game. But not at launch. Maybe when they do the "space" expansion. So they can do a sort of EVE Online and Dust 514 thing where a player is up in space in a ship to do the orbital bombardment.
