Alright, so I'm a ps vet, but I used the pc gamer key instead of waiting to get my own key as a vet. Can I use the key when I get it? Does the pc gamer key have the same access power as a vet key?

If you're a vet you will automatically be given access so don't worry about it

Vets don't get keys, their account will simply be enabled.

I'm confused now. The account to *what*? You can't download the client until you log in with your beta key, and I've been assuming the key would be in the magical email we're all assured of getting, and I've been waiting for it like a kid hoping one of Willy Wonka's golden tickets will be in his next package of Everlasting Gobstoppers.
I've registered for beta on the PS2 web site. I've updated the email address on my ancient original Sony Station account. Is there anything I missed...?

You just login to your account and if you have access you'll have a link to download the launcher.

You can't download the client until you log in with a beta activated account, but it doesn't matter how it gets activated.
The beta key is just something that is added to your account. When they activate vets accounts, it will be almost like they automatically put a beta key into your account without you needing to enter anything. It's automatic, instead of you having to manually enter any code.
Your account will be activated... soooooon.

You can give the key to someone else, a friend or relative for example.

The account you're asking about is the Sony Station Account you used to play original Planetside on. That account will be automatically flagged with Planetside 2 beta access at an undisclosed certain point during the beta.
If you used the same email as your old Sony Station account to manually sign up for the beta on the website, well, that's just a fail-safe, but you're already going to get in at some point, guaranteed, as a current/former subscriber to Planetside 1.

We all should have given the PCGamer keys away to someone instead of wasting it on our accounts.

Nah, it means less competition for us Key users when the key phases start.
In fact, I salute you!

As stated, I already gave it to someone. I basically posted in someone else's thread that was giving away keys. The first person to reply to my post got it.

Definitely. I'd be more than willing to throw some money to be in the first round of beta invitees.

Paying £15 to sub a game I wont play , just to get in early on a beta for a game that will be free once its finished seems crazy to me . Especialy since the first waves will be playing a game thats mostly disabled/unfinished/unbalanced .

Helping to beta a game is fine an admirable endevor .
Paying to beta a unfinished game is dumb .

I've done it plenty of times, what you are looking for that is dumb is players who do it and then freak out when the game is buggy or on a schedule that is not to their liking. I bought a PCGamer specifically for a key, it's good marketing considering I hadn't touched a mag in a few years up until that point.
I love testing a game, you get more involved with the community and it's a good way of feeling out the minds behind it. Hope I can get in one of the early waves, really excited to give it a go!

Riiiight so who out of the vets want to share a betakey with me? :) Or can I buy pcgamer online (july Edition) and somehow get the key emailed to me? Can someone clarify?

If someone does have spare keys with no use for them, I still have a few clanmates who could use a key of any kind.
But give one to snaffe before me! :D

Hi I played Planetside for three years, but I haven't played since 6/2005 my SOE account game pass info says Planetside one is pending and game pass is temporarily active, but for Planetside 2 it says inactive, game pass inactive. Seems to me this means I'm still not accepted for PS2 beta. How do I know for sure if I'm flagged for beta or not?

it is just a disgrace by soe to act this way over pc gamer beta keys when soe clearly states you get in when the beta goes live with the vets

@Achayethenoo I suppose you are also a PS vet who has not received beta access. Will anyone just please tell me what I should be looking for on my SOE account to know if I have beta access or not. I'm guessing it would be under game pass info, and Planetside 2 would not say Status: Inactive Game Pass: Inactive. If anyone could please answer this question I would greatly appreciate it.
