I've been rocking the assault buggy cert on my character for a while now and really enjoying it. However from what I can see there will be no buggy style vehicles in planetside 2 such as the skyguard or thresher?

Correct. No buggies at launch. They will be added later

And chances are they'll be 100% empire specific. Don't expect the harasser or skyguard themselves to make a return. Modding a marauder into a skygaurd however, that will likely be very possible.

I'm hoping they make all buggies 3 person vehicles with 2 dedicated gunner spots.
Buggies ought to be better equipped for hit and run tactics and having 2 gunners with lighter armor gives them the heavy punch against whatever targets those guns are geared towards, without the maneuverability issues that come with manning your own gun. Lighter armor and faster ground vehicles would make them awesome flankers.
Right now that's what I think the ground war really lacks. Dedicated hit and run vehicles.
I'd love to see 2 man quads too, person on back would just use whatever weapons they have on them rather then manning a mounted turret.

What the fu....?
Correct. No buggies at launch. I really do hope they are added in later because from the trailers and E3 videos there looks like some amazing buggy potential.

Heads up, there's gonna be a store...
I'm sure many of our favorite ps1 vehicles will be back, you've just gotta pay for them.

Wrong. Higby and Co. have stated time and time again (which I thought would have been embedded in people's thick skulls already) that the only thing purchased are novelty (skins and such) and boosts (xo boost, or resources). Weapon, armour, or vehicles that would otherwise give the player an advantage over others is completely against the design of the game altogether...And has been since PS1.
Or are you new here and haven't heard until PS2 until today?

I know what they've said and I know that ftp often works out differently over time.
Maybe I'm wrong and they will release new vehicles in the future for free. We can hope that is the case but I think they'll take a pragmatic view that it makes them money and come to the conclusion that it does not confer advantage, it simply opens up more options.

Look at PS1. A new player today has just about as much of the same advantage as someone playing for years. The vet has more options, but in no way is better than the newbie, because even though his cert points are low...He can own the same things as the vet has right away.
That was what Planetside was created around...A first person shooter that awards skill, not money. Plus, look how tight-knit this community is with not only each other..But with the devs themselves. If they went back on their word and started selling power...That would destroy the game...Not make it better.

Not entirely true. There were certs that required you to be a higher BR to have them.
The point still stands though. No gameplay content in the store.

...as there are no buggies currently in the game why would the beta have a certification for it? Just stop and think about that.
And by the way, you want "you're" not "your".

Rat's statement isn't correct the way he worded it, I assume he meant that you need to have a certain BR to afford certain combos/playstyles in the first place.
E.g., Rexo+HA+AV alone costs 12 cert points already, add 3 each for Engi and Med, which you also REALLY want for heavy grunt play.

wrong.
what do you mean wrong? looked pretty accurate to me. higbby and others have all stated that anything that would give player an advantage over another where they can not obtain the same thing via game play wont be available in the cash shop. each weapon in the cash shop also has trade off better damage Higher recoil type shit. camo packages will probably be exclusive to the cash shop though. but honestly shit can change and in the end SOE will do what makes them money.

Once they add buggies, they will likely be freely available for all characters. But if you want to unlock all of the buggies sidegrades right away without waiting and grinding, you will need to pay money. There will also be no way to get a new paint job or hood ornament for your buggy without paying money.
This is their business model until stated or proven otherwise.
