Coordinate multiple drop pods as a DPICM analog against massed armor/vehicles.
Too easy? Not easy enough? Nerf incoming?

He means conduct bombing strikes using squad spawn against target heavy environments.

Tank moves 30 feet.... boned. It will not be reliable to do. Not to mention if thats the ONLY reason why you are using a drop pod, you are wasting it.

Also keep in mind that smashing into something like that kills you too, which means if you have "coordinated strikes" of people dropping pods down on lines of tanks, congrats, you've just sent all your players back to the respawn queue.

To be in range of the tanks, you would have to be hiding behind something very close to them when you use it. Or else you will splat before even using it.

Why don't you just use the Liberator's cluster bombs?

That might be worth it if all those tanks had 2-3 people in them. Not to mention that you just took out their tank column. I certainly wouldn't choose to do it over calling in AirCav or our own tanks but there might be a situation where it's useful.
It's not something you could really use against a mobile target though.

I think that a drop pod should damage a vehicle but not 1 shot it, that could be very annoying with hundreds of players dropping in every few mins

Back in my Army days, I was a 13 Foxtrot( Forward observer) or as the Army called us,Observed fire specialists 89-93. I so loved calling in DPICM from a battery of 155mm. Nothing in my life has ever made me feel so God like.
I was lucky enough never to have been in combat, the first gulf war was over so quick that we never got called up,but in all the live fire exercises we did at Ft. sill and Ft. hood I gotta say I loved DPICM.
I even called in a Battalion(18 guns in 3 batteries of six guns each) fire for effect a couple times and that is a sight to behold. God I love artillery. King of Battle.

Here's the thing: there has to be a living squad mate very close to that "tank column" in order for squad spawners to have any chance of hitting it. If your squad mate is inside a building and a tank is camping the door outside... well that's another story then. As Clegg said on Malorn's show, spawn bombing is great for clearing out campers. But hitting a moving target will be tougher.
Still, it would be fun to see an Infil-ninja squad leader move into position ahead of enemy tanks and call in spawn-bombers as the tanks got close to him...

Sounds amazing. Hopefully at some point they add a mobile artillery piece similar to MLRS. That would be one hell of a spectacle to call those in.

It should damage a vehicle, but not destroy it. There's a max of 10 people per squad, that 9 possible drop pods falling in at once, not to mention that there will be more than 1 squads. That's as effective as any air strike. Liberator above your base? Squad spawn. Trapped inside a building with a tank shooting at you and you squad? Squad spawn. Want to get many kills at once? Squad spawn on a full galaxy.

i think giving the ACE a drop jammer would sort alot of problems, without having to re-add spheres of influence, and would serve the same purpose.
Maybe the influence in a base is just the deployable range of the drop jammer, and although they serve the same purpose, they can not cover everything.
Maybe they do something as simple as make the dropper see only static, allowing them to still drop in the base, but without allowing them prewcision targeting.
Add to that random drift in a drop that the player has to compensate for, and youve got a unique mechanic that would require infiltrators to enter a base and destroy, for a meta game bonus.
I should make games.

I would only elect to willfully suicide if it was properly hilarious.
