EDIT: Sorry about the faction specific stuff

GOAL:
If there isn't already a battle raging one might be able to instigate one by capping a shared border territory of either NC or TR. It seems doable with a platoon or a squad, and then if you cap it both sides would have an obvious interest in taking an entirely isolated third party territory and then you would get the benefit of the other two fighting each other for you then you could simply exfiltrate and let the battle rage.

Ta-da! Troops diverted form both of your empires borders

Possible Execution: (To be executed at the Platoon Level)
In the case of a squad of light assaults certed with the glide pack inserting from a Galaxy there should likely be a sister infiltrator squad deploying alongside them to perform passive recon and overwatch. These two galaxies may be of either the transport or gunship variant depending on effectiveness. They should have an appropriate scythe complement to address any Mosquito or Reaver interceptors.
I imagine that this style of deployment best be utilized at night to capture outposts to be used as staging grounds for larger operations .
Depending on the resources available to a platoon or outfit leader the assets to this mission may or may not include:
10xFlash Quads
2x Galaxy Gunships/Transports
1x Light Assault Commdo Squad (Size varies depending on Gunship Seating)
1x Infiltrator Passive Recon Squad (Size Varies depending on Gunship Seating, in the case of there only being a Galaxy Gunship this squad should be the one to be seated in the gunship as there is less od a demand for manpower for passive recon operations)
1x Liberator Squadron
1x Scythe Ground Attack Squadron (This may supplant the liberator Squadron or be a middle ground between air to air defensibility and ground support capability)

CASE SCENARIO:
Assault Target Time: 2400 Hours
Step 1: Recon Galaxy Ingress with Scythe Escort
Step 2: Land at concealed LZ around dusk
Step 3: Recon squad sets up observation area at appropriate area
Step 4: Observe target for time it takes for scythe squadron to return to airbase and escort L.A.G. to target. Report useful intel. (Troop concentrations, movement, etc.)
(Recon detachment may instead insert by Flash Quads to not lose surprise due to the Galaxy beign a big fat duck)
Step 5: Light Assault Galaxy ingress with their Scythe escort
Step 6: Squadron flies over target at maximum or optimal altitude
Step 7: L.A.S. ejects and glides to their LZ within the base perimeter. (Say main building roof or aircraft tower landing pads)

Step 8: Upon contact the recon squad breaks trigger discipline and opens fire on any exposed defenders from their overwatch position. Other positions to be shifted to should be observed during original target observation.
Step 9: Upon the arrival of response forces or armor the Liberator Squadron or supplanting S.G.S. squadron open fire and eliminate or harass all heavy or priority targets.
Step 10: VICTORY!

Oops. Substitute ES vehicles with your faction's loadout. sorry.

I think part of the question is, who's territory do you take?

That is, if you take NC's territory, isn't it fairly likely that only NC would respond? It might still break out into a fight, but if TR wasn't contesting the area before, there's little reason for them to start then.

Even if you take two territories at once, there's no guarantee they'll then turn on each other. Still, it's not a bad idea overall as there's a chance that a Zerg (or a splinter Zerg) would respond, and, seeing either enemies or open terrain, continue to fight for nearby areas and get committed to the locale.

On a separate note, didn't you already make a thread on this premise? I recall seeing it before, if not as fleshed out, and I'm curious why you wouldn't just post this there if that other thread was yours.

I'm not sure actually. It just felt more appropriate to start a new discussion given a more concrete concept. That might of been a better idea.

Is the giant red text necessary?

To stay on topic...why are you sharing your plans with everyone?

So I'm not the only one that asks this! I asked this in the first thread he started. :)

Also a likely counter would be to repeat the operation against the original instigators of it. Forcing the original attackers to face the same predicament which would buy time to resecure the lost border base. This also forces further weakening of your own territory as your forces are split between initiating an attack and securing a base against the third empire. If your target decides to sacrifice their base to the third empire then they can take advantage of your split resources and continue the assault on your territories.

Yes. It is very necessary, otherwise how will those unable-to-aim blind TR supposed to read my cries of their doom?

If its executed quickly enough this would be a fine deversionary attack. If this takes an hour for it to oan out you might find yourselves trapped far behind enemy lines as the NC blitzkrieg continues to move forward. So in short, tailor this event to happen in fifteen minutes ftw.

Yea, It's a real lightning strike. But it doesn't involve conventional tactics, just getting multiple opfors involved and exfiling rapidly.

Should be easy enough you forgot to tell your air craft to fly "dark" & turn on night vision

your angles are easy to spot with them lights on xD:lol:

The determining factor to this would be if there are good defenders who can use less people to repel your attack. The dependence on aircraft makes you extremely vulnerable to AA, and since this is supposed to be an operation for the borders between your two enemies, it is bound to have plenty of people with armor of various specialties.

To make this work, you could send in two Galaxies with mixed-class squads to maximize your effectiveness without needing to make your squads well known. You would have to capture bases that aren't on the frontlines to prevent the factions already fighting there from firing at your squads. Have two different squads do the aforementioned with the other enemy faction. AA will always be a factor, but it is more likely that you'll encounter AA on the frontlines than further back in enemy territory.

This is how I see this strike going.

Herp tells his guys to board up onto the gunships 20min later derp trys to take off crashing into herp killing everyone ....

Herp claims down everyone & they try again this time everyone takes off & they make their way to the Lz when all of a sudden herp internet crashes for 0.3 sec derp is screaming "Herp their every were HeLP"
