View Full Version : Any of you still play EVE?

I know basically all the focus is on PS2, but I was wondering.
I just put a 60day code into EVE and I'm lonely. Whats worse is that I'm a veteran NOOB. They changed a metric butt-ton of stuff. I'm basically re-learning the game. I'm doing level 3 missions In a Mael, and so far so good
Anyone want to buy a Loki?

I still play, off and on. I dropped out of my corp a while back and joined Red vs Blue so I can get some fair and fun PvP when I do decide to play.
I've technically been playing since a few months after launch so I'm coming up on 130 million skill points. You name it, I can fly it, equip it, or fire it. But not playing much means I don't have a huge income, particularly after the nerf to research agents not long ago.
EVE is just a game that requires a lot of commitment to play; it's almost impossible to really play casually. I just don't have the time I used to.
I used to be ceo of a corp called "PlanetSide Defense Union" which consisted primarily of friends from PlanetSide and this website (the ticker is "PSU" iirc). It was fun for a while before we killed a merc ceo (7th most wanted in game), collected a 100 mil bounty, messed up some senior merc officers, and got some street cred. Then a bunch of infamous mercs (Sharks with Frickin' Laser Beams and company) came and stomped us, just to put down any notion that a newbie corp can go around killing merc ceos without consequence. We still have a channel in-game labeled PSU so feel free to drop by, though there's seldom anyone in there these days.
I've been having a hard time getting back into the mood to play recently. Without a real goal or a bunch of friends logging in regularly, it's just not the same as it used to be.
PS - There is actually an EVE subforum here on PSU... Hamma and some of the other guys/gals from CDL played for a while. It's surprising the number of people who play PlanetSide that have played EVE Online.
PS2 - (No pun intended?) I forgot that you're SDM. You probably remember me dumping EVE Online threads all over this forum a while back. I played alongside some of the BOHICA guys too for a while, but I think they've all left too. Would be cool to know how some of them are doing.

It just to time consuming for me. There is so much to do in the game, and I have little time to do any of it. :/

I played EVE and enjoyed it for a month. I ended up with a Ferox in my last week of play, but I just felt like I'd never catch up to the game in terms of skill points.
That feeling of being so behind kind of made the game suck for me. That or the endless warping to do PvE missions.
I never got into PvP, mainly because 1) I had no idea how to and 2) I was broke as hell and didn't want to lose my only battlecruiser.

Amen to that Zulthus.... I ended when I got my T1 Rohk and I died within about 3 hours lol. Too much time to go back and get another one...
That's why I'm sticking with Planetside 2, Borderlands 2 and Resident Evil. :)

I'm what they call an EvE Phoenix. Well if they = I. Pretty sure I'm the only one...
Anyway, I tend to sell my main characters off and start from scratch. My latest character is Val'Dore.
Haven't been subbed in over a year.

I used to play but quit when I figured out I'd never make a good accountant in RL, so why bother in a game ;)

It's too complicated to start and takes way too much dedication. Not a very "New player friendly" game. Ps2 is noob friendly, as long as they can aim, you can kill a dude.
A very nice Game. But my Account ends in 5 Days, i play Planetside and Firefall in the Future i think i dont need more.

Not any more, but if they made an app so it was possible to play the market from outside of the client I'd be all over it.

I've got a Drake and a Noctis along with a gajillion other lower level ships.
I've got a pretty sweet stock of BPs and other rare stuff as well.
I'm off my subscription at the moment though. I'm not really one of those hardcore players who mines or missions 24/7 to plex their account.

I logged on to my old account after resubbing, just couldn't get back into it. Not sure why, kind of in a gaming funk.
Cheers,

I used to do the same before my POS got tipped over by someone who wanted the moon. And my carrier has been gathering dust for years. :(

I didn't notice the lambda in your avatar until your post made me look at it a little more closely. I shoulda noticed sooner because this isn't the only place you're using that avatar. :)
But yeah, a phoenix describes you very well in EVE... I had to start typing notes on your characters so I could remember that they were you.
I'm still subbed but it's mostly just to keep training skills.

Yeah, the weird thing is... I liked all of them lol. Maybe it was my way of keeping the game interesting.

how about no! - YouTube
You need to get out of hi sec, join FW and come fight in low-sec. Buy 10 Rifters/Merlins (T1 Frigs) and roam about.
If you need any help let me know in game 'iHex NZ'.

played eve for about six months a while back. i wanted to like it, i really did, but it disappointed me in just about every way.
my character is still probably sitting in the same space station i got sent to after getting podded. i just couldn't be arsed to build another ship.

protip: learn to make a lot of money. When I say a lot, my monthly income with minimal effort is something silly atm like 20 billion isk/month. That translates into 240bn/year, roughly.
I have found, however, that the game becomes LESS interesting, with the more isk I have.

I really liked this game. I tried the two week trial and was hooked. But, like Electrofreak stated, it just takes too much commitment.
That's why I prefer single player RPG's, or space games like the X series, as well as FPS's (single, multi, mmo) because they are the kind of games you play at your own pace. Back in high school and college I was able to delve into Dark age of Camelot, and the like. Now-a-days, like the Army says, It's a no go. I do miss excessive gaming and I forcefully put effort into not letting myself fall back in it.

PS2 is trying to suck me back into heavy gaming but I'm doing my best not to let it pull me too far in. I've got a family and a career and a new house that needs my attention these days.

How old's the little one these days?
If the have a trial for PS2, I might try it out but it most likely won't go past that. Which is why I mainly stick to the Lounge forum on PSU.

Trial? You didn't know PS2 has been F2P since before it was more than a revamp of PS1?

coming up on 4, it's crazy. I almost miss the days when she couldn't argue with me... but I've got another 14 years or so to get used to it. :p
