View Full Version : Vehicle spamming; why we shouldn't worry

There's a lot on whining on the OF about vehicle spamming; suicide runs etc etc.
Am I right in saying this won't be happening due to the fact individuals have to wait X minutes before they can get another vehicle from a station?
We don't know any more firm details of that right like;
Actual Time delay
If other vehicle types are restricted, or if its all vehicles for the individual.
All based on vehicle ownership.
Another daft thing they're on about on the OF is death penalties. Loosing BEP's etc. What a load of crap. Looks great on paper, but after dying 5 times in 10 minutes you wouldn't be a happy bunny

Also if a vehicle is abandoned for 5 minutes or so, it disappears.

Ya. I don't lilke the idea either. If it is going to be as fast paced as they (Dev's) say it is, then the penalty would suck. I hope they don't enable that feature. It would lessen my love for the game. But if they do, I would still be playing regardless. :p

I believe a person can only create one vehicle at any one time to avoid "vehicle spamming".

Depends on what you mean by abandoned... Fire_Monkey's been around for a while, so I'll credit him with the correct meaning, but for those of you who are new:
In this case, "abandoned" means that the user has logged off. Simply getting out and walking away won't cause it to fade. Getting a new vehicle will cause the old one to fade. Hacking someone else's vehicle will cause the old one to fade.
I THINK there's a delay between getting a new one (by hook or by crook) and the fade out. In that time, I WOULD IMAGINE (guessing) that the vehicles permissions are forced to "whole empire" so anyone with the right cert can take posession of it before it fades out.
That raises the possibility that one person could rapidly hop between several different vehicles to keep them all alive. It would also mean that one of those vehicles could be "destroyed" by successfully distracting that person for a while.

Napalm's right of course, just wanted to post what Dave says:
<+Prontera> What triggers loss of ownership to a vehicle? Getting out, a certain time out of a vehicle? (I ask this due to trying to get all the equipment in the trunk to a locker to see if I have to worry about anyone just 'taking a look')
<@SmokeJumper> Prontera...if you acquire a different vehicle, you lose ownership of the first one. Also, if someone jacks your ride, you lose it. (I know...duh.)
<@SmokeJumper> Prontera...also if you log out for more than a couple minutes, your ride will get removed from the world unless someone else sits in the driver seat and "assumes ownership".
<@NearRidgeX7> You can lock your ride too
<@IluvatarPS> Vehicles will also auto-deconstruct if you leave them on their construction pad (to avoid griefing)
