Hi devs off ps2 : )
I just found something that you maybe will like and talk about in the office.
Its the first REAL virtual reality - Sponsored by ALOT of great game companies already: EPIC/VALVE/ID software to just name a few.
So look at the links i send you, Maybe you like it maybe you hate it :)
I just think it would be AWESOME if it would later down the ps2 road support that to, especially when you are a FPS mmo where you have to be aware of your surroundings.
Here is the links: Enjoy
(if you like it - feel free to send me a pm and say so :))

(where you can by the dev kit: I have already ordered mine :D)
Oculus Rift Kickstarter - YouTube
(And a movie where they talk about the virtual reality and interview some devs from other game companies :) )
And here is some things other devs have said about the device :)
“What I’ve got now, is, I honestly think the best VR demo probably the world has ever seen”
John Carmack, id Software
“Needless to say, I’m a believer… We’re extremely excited here at Epic Games to get the Unreal Engine integrated with Oculus”
CliffyB, Design Director Epic Games
“I think this will be the coolest way to experience games in the future. Simply that… that big”
David Helgason, CEO Unity
“I’m really looking forward to getting a chance to program with it and see what we can do.”
Michael Abrash, Valve
“It looks incredibly exciting, if anybody’s going to tackle this set of hard problems, we think that Palmer’s going to do it. So we’d strongly encourage you to support this Kickstarter.” Gabe Newell, President and Owner Valve

Finally! :ddd
Exactly my thoughts to : )
I have already ORDERED mine! :D
Cant wait to play Doom 3 in true virtual reality :D
Time to get scared out of your pants again :D
But on topic:
This and ps2 will be so f in awesome if they decide to sponsor it also.
Think about it, Standing in TR warp and see those galaxys BOTH in 3d!!! AND in virtual reality !!!
And IF i understand this right now.... IT DONT track your head movement - It track your eyes and where you are looking, It was the way i understod it ...
And if you look at the site: They are ALREADY A LOT over the cash they need :D!
So this is reality as i write this, Just have to wait until a company take there thumbs out of there a*** and start to sell it in stores :D!

Hmm. Is this only a headset? Because if so, i want a full suit or gloves, boots, and helmet so i can control my whole character and it can tell where my hands are so it positions the gun accordingly and such, then i don't have to poke my whole body out of cover just to shoot a guy when all i need to do is poke out head and gun.
But otherwise this is awesome!! We will soon have true virtual reality :D

What it looks like its only the headset - But what you talk about is not so far away if this "Oculus" become reality....
Lets say that in 1 year this peace of tech is in the stores, THEN i would guess it would be like 2-3 years more until ppl like you and me start to tweek outise the "oculus area" and connect more and more stuff to it :D
I AM SO HAPPY that "the future" is finally here :)

I dunno... I'm more than willing to pay the $300 price point, that's honestly lower than I figured it would cost, but it IS a prototype. I'm sure it works but... only one game >.> Well, the VR part anyway. I'd like to think it can act like a 3D monitor for other games that don't support the VR tech.
But I do agree, this kind of thing + PS2 = awesome. If T-ray ever has it in him to tell his team to make helmet boarders for infantry huds, that would be the near ultimate immersing experience!

Not wishing to sound negative about this awesome piece of gear, but I sure hope this won't be too dangerous to use for people with epilepsy, not that I have it myself... just wondering since you'll be covering your eyes completely with it.
Apart from that I would love to try it out myself some day.

It looks cool and all but ts kinda at this point atm 300$ for a headset to play like 3 games then it becomes next to useless.
I got a 5 monitor display with almost zero bezel in 3D.
This head set will be great if they can get it to work with any game.
I would totally make a 360 desk with a free moving keyboard & mouse so I could just turn my chair & have my guy do a 360xD
Arma 3 + this headset would just be mind blowing for a combat sim.

Surprised it took this long to develop! VR concept has been around for a while now. Glad to see people are starting to look into it.

they have been around for many years but as they say, the tech is cheaper these days. looks interesting, would be awesome with alot of fps,s specially ps2
That would take FPS twitch gaming to a whole no level.
the problem that exists currently is situational awareness. Gotta move your mouse to look.
being able to just move your head a tad bit to look to the left while still covering an angel/field of fire is very advantagouse

I would happily drop $300 for this if some good games (including Planetside 2) supported it.
My only request is that the goggle isn't so big that I can't drink beer with it on. Nevermind, I'd drink through a straw if I had to.

Nice find, hopefully this thing will take off and in the near future we get to play all kinds of games like that. :)
Heh, when you think about it, every MMO created after it becomes popular will be kind of an MMOFPS. :p

i toss it up to the ai controled helicopters. we could do it for a long time, but when the kinect came out for xbox, it was 150 bucks with native software and it could fly itself.
just liek we had touch screens forever and a half before we started putting them on phones and such.
in fact as far as VR goes, i remember for big conventions and touries, americas army use to have VR chambers for contestents.

Yea I agree with you all, If this take off now (as I hope it does) then we have VR - SOON.
And if game companies like Sony and MS is willing to back them up then we have VR support in the "next gen consoles". If it wouldn't be there it wont be long any how before we have this in stores.
Time to by some straws then xD
