The video i am gonna link now you HAVE TO REMEMBER is a FUTURE VISION and a little bit of parody of how it can be. But in the BASE - Think about it.....

FUTURE VISION = 10-15 years maybe

But with the tech we have now this is very much possible i would say soon or in the near future MAX 10 years i would say.

Would you get Augmented reality linses if they arrive?
Me? ... I throwing my money at the screen now but nothing is happening xD

All I could think about regarding that video...

Technology: Building relationships on lies and subtle manipulation made easier!

Well augmented reality is available today but only in very crude ways like the psp or through the ps3 and its pseye camera.

First step will be creating glasses that can handle the augmented graphics but its lot harder then it sounds because for the aug to be practical, there needs to be a camera that view the world exactly as you do. So these "glasses" are in fact just videoglasses that feeds from a camera positioned maybe inbetween your eyes. It will still make you feel enclosed and drastically reduce your field of view, it will not be like just wearing a pair of glasses.

But when technology catches up we might get cheap small cameras with extreme resolution and wide enough field of view to match the human eye and by then the mico computer encoding the aug will be fast enough so the is no lag from the camera to the videofeed in your glasses. The it will work and we will be able to have animated, 3dimensional commercial media all around downtown. The whole city will be like reenacting "who framed roger rabbit"!

Next step, probably alot further off then we think though, is implants like lenses.
I was gonna insert the futurama "shut up and take my money" meme but i dont feel like googling it so nevvamind!

the video makes it look obstructive and distracting rather than useful

i dont want anything i cant disconnect myself from, so this video doesn't really appeal to me. Google goggles on the other hand are fine.

edit: wtf, the guy wasted a cucumber!

I want to like this so much, but I do see the potential problems...Leaning towards doing it anyways. :)

Funny thing, I'd rather be a computer than being hooked into one. :\

I agree with everyone else here. The "futuristic" video posted in the OP pales in comparison to the actual tech demonstration of the google goggles.

AR certainly has potential, but the video had this pointless gaming theme to it that just made it seem annoying. A wasted effort.

Good lord that was creepy, even before the twist (the whole "staring at a blank wall" thing got me). And this is coming from a technophile who would love full AR to be real instead of the infant attempts we have so far.

So, to avoid such situations potential dates will require a reputable dating site to give them info on someone before they date. It could also offer features such as requiring both of them to sign in to the site while on the date. The site would have a feature that made sure both people were not using programs that the other person didn't want them using. Oh the haxing possibilities!
