What faction is right for me?

Hi, I am new to this forum and planetside in general (never played the first one) and I was wondering what faction is right for me. I am really excited for planetside 2, so I want to really think about which faction fits my play-style. I want to know the differences in gameplay, looks, vehicles, weapons, etc...

Welcome, fellow newcomer. :)

Each of the three factions offers varied gameplay and many unique weapons and vehicles.

The New Conglomerate or NC for short is my personal favorite and in general terms, their weapons hit the hardest and they offer more armor then their opponents. Lore-wise, they are a group of freedom fighters and mercenaries backed by corporations and ex-military groups. Their colors are blue and yellow and their armor looks more blocky and square.

The Terran Republic or TR use lots of rapid fire machine guns and are generally faster in a straight line then their opponents. The TR consists of the old Earth government and military and while they do control their area with police state tactics, they do want to defend their homes from invasion. Their colors are red and black and their armor is smooth and rounded for the most part.

The Vanu Sovereignty or VS use energy weapons and have very mobile units that can turn on a dime. The VS study the alien artifacts left behind on the planet and generally have higher tech then their opponents but not really better stuff. Their colors are purple and grey and their armor is almost organic and very flowing and sleek.

Good luck choosing a faction that fits you playstyle and I hope this helps a bit.

Good place to look would be the Media section under Home where there are all sorts of pictures of the factions, vehicles, weapons, and gadgets.

And of course TR are superior.

TR: Rapid fire, lots of bullets, and their vehicles are the fastest.

VS: Plasma guns, almost no bullet drop, loss of damage over range, high maneuverability.

NC: Highest damage, slow, lots of armor.

Let's not forget that to compensate they also have the slowest rate of fire, and smallest clip size. 30 bullets for Gauss, 40 for Pulsar, 50 for Cycler.

they have the strongest first strike. this means as a group they will one hit kill many enemies in the first few moments of engagement.

the NC and their, welded scrap heaps

or the glorious Terran Republic, with our years of fine honed military machines.

I'm extremely interested in the TR faction. I love the fact that they're fast and have fast guns. All other FPS games I play I use fast fire rate SMGs. Along with using any speed gear I can get my hands on.

well if you want fire rate TR is for you, our signiture weapon from ps1 was our chain guns, aptly called the bullet hose. now in ps2 i think the vanu might get superior move speed (atleast vehicle wise) though thats a guess im making here. but rate of fire is teh TR specialty.

My advice to the OP is try before you buy. Before you put a lot of time into a single empire, play a char from each empire for a week or so. Long enough to get a feel for their vehicles and weapons.

In the end you will know which empire suits you best / you have the most fun with. And additionally you'll have a better idea of what your enemies can do against you.

Terran Republic all the way. Vanu is for noobs that are like "OMGZ LAZERZ GUNZ MAN".

Do you like to tank? Vanu have the best tanks by far. Do you like gun play? NC have the hardest hitting yet hardest to control guns. Do you like playing a Medic? The TR have the best medic.

TR are supposed to be fast but in reality the VS have the fastest tank because of its special boost function.
