i wana know some of the physics of planetside
for example
when an explosion happans near a vehicle will the vehicle like roll over or maybe veer off.say like your rideing on a quad and all the sudden a rocket hits rite under you will your char go flying off the quad and fall to the ground and get up quikly all realistic and cool like?
also when someone dies from an explosion will they go flying or just stump over grabing ther arm or something lame like that
post what physics you would like to be in the game lets get a disscusion goin

Devs already stated that there is no ragdoll physics, death animation is, well, death animation. And from the Fileplanet video, it didnt seem like the bodies fly out of anything, it sort of just goes poof.

When a vehicle is damaged by an explosion, I would assume, it merely takes damage points, if they are "lethal" then it explodes, if they are not, it probably starts smoking or something ( only a visual effect). I'm 99% sure you can't be thrown off of a quad or out of a vehicle. I'd also assume when you are caught in the wake of an explosion, the same rules apply to you as the vehicle, if the damage is lethal, the regular dying animation is played.

Kind of strange though that the vehicles themselves have physics (supposedly like halo) but when they explode they don't. Seems like that would be easy to program in.

hey, on the note of quads, or even open top vehicles. Is the driver able to take damage even though hes on it?
Such as, I'm driving down a road, Sniper shoots at me, I die, and vehicle is ok.

Lot of threads on whether or not you can be shot out of vehicle. Conclusion: probably.

yea i dunno PS is missing alot of minor things (REGION SPECIFIC DAMAGE!)
anyway, ragdoll physics are so awesome. in UT2k3 ahh its just so awesome to see :drool: oh well.. whatever :(

dont forget they are gonna amek updates and what not. so in a later version they may put all that stuff in....

I highly doubt anything that big would be added at a later time.
I'm perfectly fine with less effects and visuals that don't improve gameplay at all if not having them is going to reduce the number of packets sent for each action.
I mean, a game like this with ragdoll physics would be wasting a lot of bandwidth on a feature that is purely for visuals. I'm all for visuals that can be computed solely on the client, but extra visuals that require communication with the server are bad for a game that requires minimal lag to be fun.
