The people who pay to get in or aren't interested in actually testing usually don't play much anyway. They get frustrated with the bugs or limited access to features and just wait for release.

Look at the WoW annual pass beta invites. Although my experience with those players was limited compared to how many actually went out, not many of them that I know/met actually stuck around for any serious length of time to test anything. They simply stopped logging into the beta and are waiting for the expansions release now that they've at least got to play around with some of the new features.

I'm a PS1 vet and didn't get in since I'm not an active subscriber. I figure it's not worth it to pay $15 to play a game a week or less before I'm pretty much guaranteed to be able to play it anyway. Ugh fail, signed up for beta months ago, PS1 vet and being playing PS1 for the past month or two but apparently since I am using the 45 free days that sony gave me my account was never flagged. Spent 2 hours waiting/talking to customer support just to get my account flagged for veteran access but they couldn't give me an invite to this round. Anyone else is a similar boat?

Fail on your part or fail on SOE's part? I wasn't expecting much(since it is SOE), but I did expect them to treat their customers like adults instead of tricking them by dancing around subjective words like "vet".

I'm in the exact same situation. I was never flagged, so I got a twitter key, but now I'm not sure if I will be invited off my veteran status, or have to wait and get in with twitter people. I've heard veterans would be flagged for eventual access before beta started, and from other people that you will be auto flagged for eventual access when beta went live. Still not sure which is the case. I just wish there was a way I could tell if I'm flagged for beta access by being a veteran, or by entering in a key I got on twitter.

On both really. Soe fail on not getting flagged as a veteran (if I didn't contact customer support I would have never known) but fail on my behalf for not taking the extra effort to subscribe on top of my 45 days. Ah well won't be long till the next round, I've done all I can.

So long as you have signed up for beta on your veteran account, you get in with the veterans.

I don't understand what made you not make a new station account and sub a new name with the same email address. Kinda mind boggling actually. If I had spent more than 5 minutes on the phone with support, I would have hung up and paid the money if I really wanted it.

I didn't know you could make two SOE accounts with same email. Also I never went on customer support, and if I had I can do a lot more with 15 dollars then 5 mins. Who would rather have 5 mins over 15 dollars that to me is "mind boggling actually".

I don't get this whole NDA discussion. By getting into the Beta and clicking download does not mean you have accepted or signed an NDA, unless it says 'By clicking download you are accepting out NDA policy'.

So in saying you got INTO the beta is not breaking it, after you sign the NDA, it would be breaking it. D:

Because the main point they made for giving vets priority was that they wanted players who are used to the playstyle of the game...
People who subbed and payed to get into the beta aren't 'Vets' they are just motivated people.

they do this because if 100% of the ps2 beta pop would be vets then they would get a very biased testing group, wich is why they gave out priority keys with a pcgamer mag in the first place.

Gotta agree with you there. However it's not all truth to them saying vets get in on day 1. It's people who are motivated by planetside and are actively subscribed to PS1 right now get in.
Which most of which aren't vets.

Actually there's untold hundreds or thousands of us from technical test that know exactly what the hell we're doing. (And no, that's not an NDA violaton you dork trolls. I have no way of counting how many people were in technical test. The #1 favorite troll subject is to falsely accuse of an NDA violation by admitting you were in technical test or are in beta.)

The priority key has a lower priority than being a veteran. Essentially, you wasted a key so that somebody else could not have it -- you get absolutely no benefit from it.

They make no distinction between a vet who has played for one month way back in 2003, and a vet who has played for 8 years but who stopped playing. Active players, most of whom are likely not noobs subbed only for beta access (although some may be old vets resubbed due to beta and/or to kill time until PS2), get in first, then all other vets, then priority keys, then perhaps those without.

I am a pre day one player. I beta tested Ps1 and Core combat. I received my invite and look forward to seeing every one in game. Lets have fun and help get this game to gold.

TBH i'm not a fan of Smed announcing a last minute beta shortcut for "active" subscribers (IMO it sounded more like a cash grab than a reward), that 8am monday cut off was particularly suspect.

In the end I just want the game to be good and to be released once i'ts well tested, low bug-count and plays like something people will stick with (easy to pick up, hard to master).

In terms of beta queues, as long as the majority of whoever gets in treats the game like a testing platform not a demo i'll b perfectly happy waiting a bit.
