Aussies... we are looking at a server somewhere in your fine country if there are enough of you that want to play.
That's a nice little surprise! Aussie based servers!

Hot damn! I will have a 50ms ping because i live in the glorious New Zealand. So please make a server in Australia, i don't care too much about ping because i don't want to sound like an American that thinks they are entitled to a ping that is less than 30ms. But it would be awesome to play with people in my own timezone and such, would make it easier for my Mount and Blade clan to make an outfit as well.

Glad to hear this, as I know a few .au gamers who tend to get the shaft where servers are concerned. Hopefully they show enough interest and get a server!

I spend my work week arguing with people (here in the US) about ping times. You'd be surprised the number of people who think they should be entitled to pings faster than the speed of light. Sending them all to an island in the middle of an ocean seems like a great idea.

Thats my experience playing things like Mount and Blade or Team Fortress 2, i wouldn't care if its 100ms-150ms, thats what i was used to playing COD or BF3, but now i am at university, i have better internet and get less than 50ms most of the time playing computer games, but i wasn't allowed to bring my xbox so i don't know what my COD ping would be like, probably much better, so i will be happy if its less than 150ms.

I don;t know why, but Hamilton has excellent internet
I get roughly 10MB/s download speed so i can most of the time download games in 15-30 minutes (10GB game)

I live in Brisbane and have no trouble connecting to USA servers, and I play on them relatively well too, been playing BF3 on East coast servers to see how it fairs in anticipation of PS2 and its not that godawful to be frank.

We'd only need like 1 server for Aus/NZ. Could be good if there is enough numbers playing...

awesome!!! my clan is thinking about investing in this PL2, we are all from aussie/nz. definitely be enough for one server maybe more being an fps might attract more attention.since its fps based mmo i think its critical for local servers IMO. or else could be a bit of a mess with 200ms+ pings. great that they're even considering it.
best news for me yet.!!
200+ ms pings sucks with any FPS game

Yeah, i'm taking this tweet with a pinch of salt...
I mean, hopefully there will be that many people interested at release to consider a server, however we should still probably expect a server merge with west coast a year or so after release anyway, even if they do set one up.
*crosses fingers* though.

prettymuch, and left with the delema of if there is AU servers most people that play the times i play would play on the AU servers.

ew... forgot about that. Do you think it would have a really noticable effect on the population of US west servers during Aus peak times? Anyone still wanting to play there would be ghosthacking by themselves.
There really is a benefit of having people from different timezones playing on the same same servers.
Ah well, if my memory serves me correctly, playing on Markov a few years after release during Australian peak times (8pm - 2am) could be freaken depressing.

They are on the forums plenty. I'm sure they will know exactly how many players they have from Australia from their station account details, right?

Probably...
My biggest concern is that it is hard for Australians to obtain a key during beta key blast, hell I myself had to stay up till 5am to get one. If they want us to get the target members then they would need to focus on handing out more keys to our region... :/

This is great news BUT for the VET Aussies im sure we can all agree that FRIENDS > PING
But for all the new comers this is a fantastic move, and seeing PS2 will be on Steam i would imagine allot of Aussie players.

Hawaii player here, we don't want 'em.
That said, I really do hope you Aussies can get a server of your own. All the ones I talk to always seem so passionate about gaming that it's a crime to leave you all out in the cold so often.
