Can't really begrudge a company for trying to make money, but frankly I was a little distraught when I found out that my PC gamer key (which I had bought the magazine specifically for) was not only in the same pool as thousands of other keys that were simply given away, but that they basically sold first access at the last minute to anyone who purchased PS1 and a sub.

I dug up my old vet account some time ago, but didn't feel that it was worth spending 15 bucks for a sub I wasn't going to use, for a beta of a game that is free. Though apparently many did, and SoE capitalized on that.

Anyone else feeling a little leery of SoE due to this?

I consider it the first microtransaction.

But I'm sorry your $5 transaction didn't hold the same weight as a $15 transaction.

Nope.

You wanna play PS1? You wanna test PS2?
You get both.

Seems 100% fair to me. Relatively speaking, Mechwarrior online wanted to charge $100 for people to beta test their free to play game.

You spent money for access and other people did too. I don't see the issue. There are thousands of thousands of PC gamer magazines for that month. Wasn't that exclusive in the first place.
