Looks like we'll need a "Today is the Day (4)" thread!

Exactly, we're here to help improve the game, not play it. That part comes once the game is released.

This was bound to happen and I am not surprised. I do not mind in the slightest. Stuff happens, these guys are working very hard to get us all in beta and we should give them all the time they need.

I'm kind of just glad they pulled the plug on tonight when they did. I'm in CST. Must suck to live in EST or overseas time zones.

And out of tonight's tweets:

Evan NC ‏@t0pppps
@j_smedley is it true the delay is from the BFRs not functioning properly?

@t0pppps it is. Plus the tinfoil hates are not keeping the gamma rays from mars out properly.

And, for more people to have some hope:

also - Planetside 1 Vets - if you don't have a current sub you are not in this phase. you're in very soon though if you registered for beta

Hopefully within the week

I feel sorry for everyone of the developers when I see all the damn whining about this delay on Twitter.

What delay? I was playing earlier, I was playing the Robo-Unicorn. Isn't NDA in effect for this? Whether or not something happened shouldn't be public knowledge. Also fail is part of testing if it didn't happen, if there wasn't fail everyone would be playing and buying skins as we speak as opposed to a small section of players dealing with the quirks and issues that come from an unfinished product.

The devs deserve all the time they need. They have been battling hard in the trenches. The light is almost shining through.

I think it was a smart move to delay it, it wasn't ready guys, lots of issues that would of caused a lot of posts that Im sure they don't need or want, it looks like they have fixed a ton of stuff and i for one cannot wait to test them out tonight. See you on the battlefield!

This must be good news for the TR and VS. The inevitable beating they're going to get is postponed for a little while longer.

If they found something major all it would to to release it would give them headaches. Redundancy in bug reports does nothing but clog things and if they found an issue that would be reported about 98% of the population, it will not help them at all.

That or server crippling bugs. There is an NDA so whether or not there was whining from this delay I couldn't talk about but what about if the servers were up and down from an issue that they didn't correct.

OMFG SOE I CAN'T PLAY 5 MINUTES BEFORE I CTD, or THIS GAME IS A JOKE SOE CAN'T PROGRAM, etc to infinity. I could say that at some point in time tests weren't rampant with this but I'd be full of crap, it's just got a little more vocal in the last 10 years so yes the devs need to walk on egg shells to avoid the nuisance that comes from it.

I can't say I'm surprised. I know (and hope that) SOE takes the time they need to make the game and servers the best they can. However, I still can't help feeling disappointed. It's just a natural human reaction. I know the devs are working hard as they can, but it seems like Smed is just trying to keep people happy and calm by throwing out dates. After the 3rd (4th) time, it gets a little old.

A-fuckin-men brother. Amen.

Or lagging out, or bugging out and getting stuck, or freezing your PC from memory leaks or a certification freezing you up OR whatever reason that stopped this from happening. It's not like they stopped it to fuck with us ya know?

PS2 is coming, complaining and bitching from all others aside, it's coming.

I know 99% of us now aren't complaining and I write these defensive messages. I write them to challenge those who will bitch so I can smash their internet dick into the ground and make them feel bad, but I also do it, more importantly, to keep this community being an amazing influence on this game. We have devs here, we are FIRST hand responsible for the game's development along-side the developers. When we really bitched, they listened.

We're gonna hold together, the few that want to complain, they wont because of a community that will stand up behind what they believe. We got this. SOE has got this. Together we own this.

I don't always agree with the things you post, but you're a god damn champ for posting this. Very nice.

Was up until 3am waiting and I'm not really too bothered. These things happen.

PS. Fuck my time zone.

they didnt delay it on purpose, the beta server wouldnt work with the new patch. so its a hardware issue.

going to work today is gonna suck , the 2pm time was at 11in the evening here, went to bed at 4 at night and got up every 3 hours to check on the updates.
well i am very pleased that next week the EU server will be timed more to the european schedule

i need more coffee:doh:

the thing you guys need to remember, alot of the bitching wasnt about the delay itself, it was about the fct people sat around for half a day before we were finally told it wasnt happening.

now im not complaining, but i was sittign around for 7-8 hours in ts, with 20-40 of our guys (fluctuated) and none of us bitched, we figured it wasnt ganna happen and we did otehr shit. but we still sat for 7-8 hours before we were told it was done.

again, i understand shit happens, i understand smedley didnt just dick us, he held out hope until it was to late, and thats fine. but alot of the bitching stems from this, not that it was delayed, just that we were repeatedly told just 1-2 hours longer, 3 or 4 times before it was just over.

could they have handled it better? doubt it, technical shit is technical, and anyone who uses a computer knows that sometimes shit just doesnt work because the robo overlords deem it not to. SOE hit the digital iceberg and it killed our day. not blaming them, i just want some of you who are hostile to understand, its like waiting in line for a ride or movie for 7 hours only to be told when your turn is up, there are no more tickets. people have that right, even in beta, to be frustrated.
