That's good news. Hopefully there will be enough people interested in the game to make at least one full server for you guys to play on. By the way you guys need to breed more gamers so it's not always a trial of the ages to get an MMO down there! :D

I don't know if I should be happy for all of the Australian people who are usually screwed over when it comes to things like this, or afraid that my Australian friends will abandon me to play with low ping.

Yeah this is good for the Aussies and not so good for late night pacific time players like myself. When I pull all-nighters on weekends I usually play with lots of Aussies.
But I'd be happy for you guys if you got your own server, honestly. <straightface>

Firstly, it is fantastic that SOE have decided to do this when so many others ignore the Oceanic players or give them token servers based in NA.
Secondly, whereas I think short term it will be great I will definitely be sitting on the fence and rolling with 2 characters on different servers.
Those who havent played PS1 or joined it late will be over the moon about an AU server.
Those that played early days of PS1 might be a little hesitant to go over board about the decision.
There will be concerns about sustaining the population needed and whether or not to abandon alliances forged on NA servers.
I wish Smedley would let us know what figures he has based the decision on. It might help some of us make a decision.
Surely it wasnt just on a whim, a few requests via twitter or a forum poll somewhere.
they must have some solid numbers they are working off that they might be able to give us, even a ballpark figure.
