View Full Version : How much money will you spend in the cashshop?

I was wondering how much money and for what kind of things you guys will spend cash in the shop.

I'm planning to spend 12$ at max a month because i think f2p should be cheaper than a subscription based game.

I would spend money for:

- Some XP/Cert-Point Boosters
- Additional Ressources to get more vecs (if it is necessary)
- Access to Über-weapons and Über-Vecs
- A nice self-designed Outfit-Camo (not these silly camos we saw so far)

Since we haven't seen what will be in the cashshop it is difficult to say what else i would spend money for.

So, what are your thoughts about this issue?

Points 1 and 4 are good.

Point 2 i am a bit unsure about, because it could be bad if not done properly and would reduce effectiveness of capping behind enemy lines and such.

Point 3 i hope never happens, or else it will lead to Pay to Win, which always kills games.

But I would like to see a custom camo option in shops so that you can be even more unique as an outfit.

As mush money I feel the game force me to... Max $100 a month is what my wallet would allow though. Or I have to start to eat out less.

But I would hate the game for every cent it will force me to pay over $15

im going to be on a booster 24/7 365 days
might get some other stuff depending on what they put in (who knows what they will have) but the one thing im NOT interested in is camos or visual upgrades

they will get a ton of money out of me but only for boosters and stuff

edit: no limit on spending for me (within reason)

Aiming for the same amount, bu may differ if i play less in certain months.

- Some XP/Cert-Point Boosters

Will do the same, at some point leveling will get tedious for me, and i dont have more than 1-2 hour per day to play

- Additional Ressources to get more vecs (if it is necessary)

You cant buy resources directly, there is a resource booster but you wont be able to use XP-booster and resource booster at the same time.

- Access to Über-weapons and Über-Vecs

SOE promised so far that there wont be any weapons or vehicles that are exclusive to the cash shop (except different optics)

- A nice self-designed Outfit-Camo (not these silly camos we saw so far)

Definitely! But i will surely try out some of the silly stuff too :D

Basically gonna buy as much as I see as enough in comparison to my income; I want to give them the money they deserve and should've gotten through monthly payment and get awesome fashionable cosmetics while at it :3

ill likely throw $60 at the game at launch...because it looks like it should be up there like diablo 3, BF3 or those other one time fee online games.

after that, maybe $20-30 a year

Probably close to zero, the only thing i would buy is outfit gear like specific clothes/ look. If i play this game anywhere near enough as the first one , which i plan to all being well, i wont need to worry about buying owt.

Will there be some kind of monthly sub thingy (freemium model) ? If so, I'll get that without a doubt.

Otherwise, I'll try to keep my monthly spend at around $15 or so, equivalent to a "standard" MMO sub. May front-load that spending a bit to buy XP boosters initially.

I hope they don't charge too much for weapons, if there £2-3 each I will more than likely buy them all over time; yet If its anything over that I doubt i'll buy more than one or two.

I've never bought any exp pots, because I am always afraid that it will be a waste of money. So it will probably be the same case here.

Only things I would pay for, are permanent. If thats limited to visuals, then there is a very small chance of me buying anything.

But we will see, maybe this game will blow my socks off and change me.:whip:

the camos for customization and MAYBE some cert things or implants or something, but as i said, $60 initially which should last me a while/ get a bunch of things. if it doesnt, it likely wont be worth paying for anything after that lest there are sales.

1) Xp/cert/implant Boosters
2) Urban Camo
3) Desert Camo
4) Green Camo

That.

Im sorry i had to lead off with that comment.;)

For me it will depend, when STO when f2p i spent lots until i figured out just how little i was getting, so im going to be cautious at first. I will want a few customizations, i hate looking like trooper 457 typically. On the other hand i dont tend to play many games where your character is trooper 457, which is what this game really is. It will also depend on how much i actually play this game, if it black lagoons me, i will be more willing to spend.

Money spent in cash shop = support for the developers.

assuming they have more than just zebra for wild looking skins, i will probably buy one of them, assuming it does not cost too much.

i don't know how much the xp boosters will cost, but if its more than a dollar a day i will probably pass.

I look it it like "World of Tanks."

Months when Im playing a lot Im willing to spend $12-$15.

But Im not willing to spend anything on consumable. Ill pay a set amount for a monthly bonus to xp. Andill pay for gear that is permanently attacked to my account.

I'll likely get at least 1 different outfit per class (or is it just character based?) along with some XP Boosters for a little bit, unless I can just buy Cert points I'll do that.

Depends how much I end up enjoying the game. At least 10$ on launch to get a unique look I like. Max 60$ per year and only if they live up to my hype level. (They might, actually. My hype level is realistic.)

Might increase if I somehow obtain an increased amount of disposable income and the market for other games is looking dire.

I'll probably spend upwards of $50 come launch. Next time there is sale on Station Cash for double your money I will likely hop on it. I want to support the developers mostly, but get cool stuff in the process.

RoninOni

I'll spend probably about $5-10 a month, largely on convenience items and a few customization's...

Considering how much I want to be able to do, and effectively, and with options.... and the fact that I'll be maintaining multiple characters and I'll be using the hell outta those convenience items :P

I never spend anything on F2P games, but if PS2 ends up being anywhere near as good as it looks, I'll definitely spend some. Probably not more than 20 bucks total, though, partially because I never really want that much and also, I'm a kid, and it just feels weird using my dad's credit card to buy things in game (I don't know why, it's just me). I'll only get camos, because I like to look stylish, and I would love to have custom camos like someone mentioned, but you'd probably have way too many people with dick camos, and that wouldn't really fit. Maybe they could have a Steam-Workshop type thing with the camos, allowing users to make their own, but they have to be approved (removing all the dicks).

Masta Chief
2012-08-10, 01:36 PM
Probably throw down an initial $60 because that's how much I would have spent had they charged for the game. That should be enough to give me some certs and get me going and then from there on out, spend as I see fit. Probably going to spend a lot...lol.

Well, you're well within your right and they are making it F2P precisely because player count is so vital...

I think most of us just want it to succeed so badly we'll find ways to spend money on things we don't need.

Probably the price of a full game.. plus more monthly

This is all highly depending on how updates are handled/frequency, servers functionality, they do not sell op items to unfair the playing field, balancing, general quality support etc.

MAYBE I'll spend some to make my doodz look better, and if I do, I'll wait for a sale. How much I spend depends on the price of stuff really.

I've play League of Legends and I have spent $1.50 on it to get a champion AND a skin (and an issue of PC Gamer but I don't care for it). Their prices for good skins are really high to me and I don't main anyone so 10$ to improve 1% of the champions is not smart for me. Only having a few classes might make it a better deal in this game.

wondering if the camos will be one for each class or one for all soldier classes, one for everything, one for each vehicle type or even one per vehicle.

Implants = Resources, which are granted from taking stuff.

Sidegrades? Like scopes and stuff? I believe that's just resources as well. Only thing that will cost cash are customization skins and XP boosters and the like. I don't know if you can use cash to get Cert points..that might seem P2W to a lot of people.

edit - scopes and that come from cert point I believe.

No, sidegrade weapons will be purchasable with resources OR cash. Not sure about attachments.

Cert points are ONLY earned via XP gain, which you gain primarily via actions in game as well as a slow drip feed while offline... and the active gains can be boosted by a Cash purchased Booster Implant (there are 4 implant slots. 3 for character/combat bonuses, and 1 for XP or Resource boost implants, both of which are cash purchases)

So there's 2 kinds of implants... combat/spawn timer (ie reduced Liberator spawn delay) implants which can only be bought with resource, and xp/resource generation booster implants which can only be bought with cash....

so yah, he'll buy Implants with cash 8) They tied in the xp/resource boost mechanic into Implants since they fit well there.

We don't know how hard they've been working on the actual game. They have been involved with the community alot but it they lived up to their words we would have been playing months ago. I am not very interested in XP boosters, but I could easily see myself buying some cosmetic items, or even a "side-grade" or two if it really enhanced my gameplay experience.

Mostly it comes down to whether or not I like the game enough to support it. Give me a good game, and I will be happy to support it (within my financial means, I am just a teacher, after all) if the game isn't super awesome, I won't throw much money at it.

What do you mean by sidegrads?

This is the only definition I know about that word.

noun

a marketing incentive aimed at persuading a consumer to switch to a competitor’s product: a competitive sidegrade to Canvas or CorelDraw

verb

switch to a competitive product: I’d prefer to sidegrade to Windows Media Player 10 at some point

And as far as I understand you can import weapons form some other game or use some mods to get other weapons or what ever...

Depends if they fix the bad scaling and UV'ing of the camo skins, and how worth it the other purchasable options are.

I will be supporting this game anyhow (and i know its beta) but i'm still waiting for them to change the low res, slapped on skins (such as zebra) from something that looks like a modder made it to a well intergrated camo pattern that looks like professional developers made it, and considered the skin for each vehicle/Armour set it would go on.

A little less at first after buying those DCUO DLCs with my SC stockpile! :) I almost bought the EQ expansion (in 50% off sale), but I honestly never play the game. I already bought all the EQ2 ones at full price last year.

It really depends on what is IN the cash shop and if cert points are rolling in fast enough for me to avoid using the XP bonuses. Also, if the XP bonuses cover "played hours" rather than real time that would be better for me. Then I could log out to eat / do family things / end chaos in the house / etc while still getting my money's worth out of the XP boosters.

This is a wait and see type thing. I know from EQ2 and FreeRealms that I am inclined to buy things like mounts, races, cosmetic gear, and broker tokens while I am abhorrently against buying those lock box keys. Thanks, I'd rather just pay the $20 for a mount than engage in online gambling...
