Ok, I signed up for the beta prior to the first wave of beta invites being released. I am not a PS1 vet so I know I'm not going to be in the first few waves or anything. I just want to know if I will get in the beta eventually even if its the last few waves.

If not.. I am willing to buy the PS1 thing so i get in the next round
Concerning "the PS1 thing" what is it exactly that we would have to buy? A SOE playcard for PS1? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm not endorsing anyone to do this for beta access. You can buy the game from GameFly for $10.

So, "theoretically" if I bought this I would somehow link the purchased game to my current SOE account and get beta access next round or would I have to make a new account linked to the purchased game.

Also i would like to restate my first question; so long as I signed up for the beta pre-beta am I guaranteed any kind of beta access?

The link pushes me back to gamefly main page, it keeps doing it since months.
Maybe I'm EU and I can't get to the .com pages, it pushes me back to .uk.

It's worth noting there are lots of PS1 vets, they might not all get in in one round of invites.

I assumed they were doing this because there weren't enough PS1 vets to support a full round of invites but maybe thats just me hoping thats what it is

Try SOE's site here http://www.soe.com/getthegame/

PS1 is on the bottom right of the game selection

Doubtful. There is likely thousands of vets waiting to get in. PS1 from what I know peaked at 100K subs or a bit lower. Even if 10% of those registered for beta thats 10,000 invites right there to give you a perspective. Thats why Smed said it can potentially takes weeks to get everyone in.

Probably not going to find anything cheaper TBH. Gamefly and SOE is the only sources to get the game currently I know of.

15$ here without aftershock, and has been stated that a gamepass works good.
Do you think I can get access to gamefly with a proxy to get it for 10$?

I heard back and forth issues with people attempting to just sub, which is why I don't normally bother with that.

Give it a shot? I'm not entirely sure is all.

I realize some people see this as a money grab. But really how many people do you see doing this? I don't see many. SOE isn't going to be laughing all the way to the bank IMO.

I agree with Goku even though I want to do exactly what you described. The thing is they didn't like announce "COME BAI PS1 U GET TEH BETAS". There was really just a twitter post confirming that such an action could be taken.

You may hate me for buying my way into the beta but you wont hate me when I blow up that scythe attacking you.

it was me i'd be weighing up the pros and cons.

I don't think they will have done that. I reckon they flipped a coin....;)

I wasn't implying that at all. All I am saying is that this isn't some deceitful business strategy 10 guys in suits threw together in a smokey meeting room; it was simply one guy acknowledging that because of the way they were doing invites you would be considered a vet even if you just bought the game.

Yea I don't really think they do manual flagging, we are in 2012 > Query on database, flag people with active past subscribtions > send mails

it's so easy to understand, but stills a way to make money lesser one of course.

Honestly does buying this at gamyfly or wherever even guarantee beta access? If it does...do you even know in what wave?

By that time the standard beta sign up may have already been sent out. So what would be the point?

I only glanced over that twit and I don't recall much. Correct me if I am wrong because I am some what curious.

Considering I'm one off many people who registered without being a PS1 veteran, and that I don't have a key, my estimation is that I have zero chance of getting into beta before an entire month as passed. After that I only have a slim chance of getting in before Open beta or release happens, which I guesstimate will be in about 3 months.

So I'll be looking in my mailbox on a weekly basis starting in September. Before then it's a waste of time. Unless someone happens to have a spare key they'd be willing to PM to me that it :P

However much it takes for me to unlock all the camo. You do the math.
