Hey, in the FAQs I haven't been able to find reference to artillery. I mean, if I am in a flat place, under heavy fire, I want some big guns to fire on the enemy. And, if there is artillery can you direct it, such as in BF1942.
:D
Right, first off there is no hardware that is considered an artillery piece. You want big guns though, right? Well you have vehicles, with big guns thus achieving the same objective.
Or are you referring to handheld artillery pieces, such as rocket launchers?
Then again, answer is yes you can.
And yes you can direct your fire, such as turrets that can move and with weapons you can direct them too.
You also have towers with big guns in them too, and bases with useable turrets.

ok sorry for the spelling but I was in a rush because my teacher was coming. What I meant was that is there a unit or vehicle that you can call on for support. like in bf 1942 where u could be in a large area and be ascout flip on the binoculars and call artillary then the guys back with the BOOM STICKS can use ur sight to fire on the enemy.

Bad school, good school...whatever it is you're going to need some therapy son.
From the videos, it appears that the shots from tanks can be arced for extra range and indirect fire. There is no direct link, but you can just get a stealther to direct your fire.
As it stands there are no lare artillery pieces in the game, and the devs have stated they don't plan putting in artillery or bombers. They just don't think it'll make the game any more enjoyable for anyone but those firing the artillery or dropping the bombs.

It's not my point, it's the devs. The comment on artillery and bombers not being fun is from the Dev Chat HERE. (http://www.planetside-universe.com/files/index.php?file=53)
They'd be the ones to know, they probably internally play tested bombers and artillery and found it was more frusterating than fun.

Stealthers can be dealt with, artillery can't.

I wouldn't want artillery either. Would suck getting killed by something that's a long ways away and totally safe from immidiate counter-attack.

ok first off it was coming ... unless u liek mature woman cuz my computer teacher is liek 60 yrs old man ! and it's a bonus to have it but oh well man, but bombers can exist. have a galaxy open the back hatch, get 10 phoenix launchers and fly the missiles to the target!

It does change the game dynamic.
If I had my personal preference, I'd go for bombers and arty, as I like them in the various games I've played with them (BF1942 arty, Mortars and Bombers in Tribes/Tribes2).
But, I can respect the decision to not include them - the focus here is first person shooter, not third person indirect fire slaughter. You to have to watch game balance for fun, and powerful indirect fire weapons are tricky to balance in with personal arms.
I've played maps in DoD where one weapon is vastly emphasized above others - mostly the sniper rifle - and they aren't much fun, except for the snipers. OK for a once in a while map, very bad for a continuous, persistent battle.

You can always use tanks and grenade launchers

They do have health though. And I doubt the stealth would stay very close to anyone anyways.

You can't open the hatch while in flight, unless releasing a vehicle, and even then you wouldn't be able to fire out.

You cna open the hatch but the hatch only open the door for vehicles.

We may not be able to use the laser targeting of a stealther to fire missles, but I wonder if we're able to assist? For example, if I'm in my reaver, and my partner is in her AI max on the ground. If she targets a Harrasser and says, 'Hey Shryn, take out this buggy for me.' Can I use a command like /assist or something to pick up her target as mine? I'd have to shoot the thing myself, and I don't actually know if a reaver can lock onto a target with their cannon at all anyway, but I'm sure you get the picture. Can someone take a target from someone else, even if they're over a hill or in some clouds, so they can swoop down or over the hill and directly (not indirectly) fire at their target without takeing the vulnerable time to target it while in sight?
I hope that was clear enough.

Vehicles don't lock on to anything, if I'm not mistaken. Only some anti-vehicle infantry weapons and MAX armor can achieve a lock on targets. Besides, you don't need any of this lock stuff when you've got skill...
if you want artillerey really bad just stick a few reall skilled tnaks on top of a closeby mountain and let them rain fire.....:cool2:
