there shouldn't be, if SOE holds to their word, all vets are in today, it had to be expected that the accounts wouldn't be flagged all at the same time.

Make sure he is doing it without any plugins on (adblocker, nnscript etc) or Anti Virus software on. Some times they can block links or pictures that they deem suspicious.

Can he not try via a Windows PC, maybe via his phone? If all else fails, its Karma coming round to kick him for supporting Apple! :p

Test it without reading what's being discussed on the official forums before you wade into 'em, perhaps, or not as you feel. :groovy:

True, although we dont know exactly what activating any one account actually takes. There is most likely more to it we don't know.

Updating the data should only take a few seconds. The thing is that we got no idea how the databases look like in terms of redundancy, failover mechanics, dividing into game-based Server Database Clusters etc. We don't even know how many updates they would need as we dont know how many vets registered for beta are out there.

It has been stated multiple times that the beta key just will be "lost" as it cant overwrite your vet status. but hey, noone knows how their system really works...

I think you might be able to get in..applying the Twitter Key to your account should make the beta account "Active" but under membership it will show "No PS2 membership". Subscribing to PS recently should make your PS 2 beta account "Inactive" but under membership should read "PlanetSide 2 Unlimited Play". Taken together you should be able to play..dunno.

I read somewhere (twitter-message, but can not find it at the moment) that did not care. Key or not ... if you are a subscriber you'll get on the 20th entree for beta, so i hope it will work ...

Some people have suggested:

EU people are in before US today.
(From UK, I am not in)
The original start date of your subscription to PS1 matters.
(I bought the game on the week it was released)
Your last date of subscription to PS1 matters.
(I was subscribed earlier in 2012, and now)
The duration of time spent playing PS1 matters.
(I think I clocked 31 months over 8 or 9 years off and on since PS1 release, not huge but still a fair while)
The date you signed up to beta matters.
(Like most PS1 vets I signed up as soon as it was available)
God hates us all.
(Real possiblity)

- Hearing Higby say in one of this videos that he really wanted vets in the game, or the assurances that they would get some kind of priority is really not showing to be true.
- There's no measuring stick they have for the amount of people you'd managed to convince to subscribe to the original game, or for drumming up interest in Planetside 2, which I've done a fair amount of.
- I have a week off work starting today.
- I built my machine FOR Planetside.
- Only later was it revealed that you have to have an Nvidia card for the 'full graphical/performance experience' (my AMD GPU crushes most Nvidia cards with pure muscle, but if this proves to be accurate I will end up with a couple of 680s, gg Nvidia).

It's a combination of these things which make me considerably disappointed and disenchanted.

Possibilities I've not heard confirmed:
Perhaps having to upload your specs for the beta, they only allow people with Nvidia GPUs to get in as part of Nvidias involvement with the project.
Perhaps if you add a PC Gamer key on top of your account when you are a vet, it relegates your status to that group.
If you actively show interest in playing TR like the majority of the mainstream internets and they want to balance factions.

Hopefully some of the above clears up a few questions for others.

As for the complaining, I realise it's a beta, that vet invites are most likely in waves as I think was hinted at - but I'm 30 years old now and feel entitled to rant like an old man.

Let me in SOE, I'm not getting any younger!

The mail change should not be a problem. Once your account is flagged for an invite you should be able to download it even if ya dont get the mail. Just make sure your account is active.

Anybody who ever subbed to the game is considered a "vet" for this wave right? Not saying I want in NAO, just wishing to be pat on the head and to be told "Yes, you're in, just wait for it."

I've registered on the site for beta (long before I subbed to Ps1), receive the same "You're already signed up!" Message and all that and have applied no key from any source to my SoE account. My PS1 sub reads ACTIVE and I'm still in my free month though the sub is scheduled for some time in September.

I filled out a pc spec questionnaire when I signed up for the beta.

Its almost 8 AM Here (Yeah I live in Cali...my luck right?) so I'm sure there is plenty of time for me to stop being nervous but that doesn't help! ;p

Anybody who ever subbed to the game is considered a "vet" for this wave right? Not saying I want in NAO, just wishing to be pat on the head and to be told "Yes, you're in, just wait for it."

I've registered on the site for beta (long before I subbed to Ps1), receive the same "You're already signed up!" Message and all that and have applied no key from any source to my SoE account. My PS1 sub reads ACTIVE and I'm still in my free month though the sub is scheduled for some time in September.

I filled out a pc spec questionnaire when I signed up for the beta.

Its almost 8 AM Here (Yeah I live in Cali...my luck right?) so I'm sure there is plenty of time for me to stop being nervous but that doesn't help! ;p

The mail change should not be a problem. Once your account is flagged for an invite you should be able to download it even if ya dont get the mail. Just make sure your account is active.

you should get access today if you had a previous PS1 subscription with the same SOE account you signed up for beta with. Once you get access, that download now area will actually let you download the game.

then your probably not in.. at least thats what was experienced last week.

since most people had been able to download from that link way before receiving an email... and that also seems to be the case today... many downloading.. no emails sent...

No Email But i can download but i cant login to the forums. so i dont know what that makes me. i have 2 accounts both can download 2003 and 2004 vets the 04 was subbed and the 03 had the 45 days of game time which i was actively using.

Yes, it is a vet account. Either:

1. "Flagged" doesn't mean your account can access the beta and we'll get in at a staggered rate.
OR
2. Smedley tweeted (at least partially) false info and we'll get in at a staggered rate.
OR
3. Something went wrong and the team is (hopefully) trying to figure out why some of us aren't getting into the beta at this time.

Same here. I was a PS1 subscriber years ago but forgot account info and don't even have that email address anymore so I bought the PCGamer for the key.

Then after that, I bought an All Access pass to get into the Planetside 2 Beta once I found out PCGamer keys would have to wait a week or two after the vets.

I think it's probably seeing that my PCGamer key is registered to the account rather than the vet status. I hope not. Looking forward to this game forever.

hmm i wonder if the people who are able to download could perhaps tell us what web browser they are using.

im using firefox but i seem to remember not being able to complete the spec survey unless i used IE, would be annoying if something like that was stopping me from downloading.

I was able to download using FireFox no problem.

Actually. Im just checking to see if im considered a vet. So i know if i should spend my one day off (work the next 8) waiting. If i need to wait i will gladly do so, but if im not getting in today i have things i would rather be doing. :)

Wait 20 minutes for chat or wait all day for something that may or may not happen. When you work two jobs, one full time one part time you tend to not want to waste your days off. :) I don't consider myself to be jumping the gun, being irrational or being rude. I am being very polite to support. I just don't like uncertainty.

When you're from Europe (that's middle european time) do not expect to be able to launch the game today - the download servers are not the final ones yet and will probably be at their maximum capacity very soon. It might take a while to finish the download. I also hope it does not turn out that way, but the past has shown otherwise on every single occasion. :evil:
