Wow the wraith looks totally useless. They show a pic of it in the new screen shots. Im sorry but thats the most obvious thing ive ever seen. No way in the world anyone could miss that unless there blind. Any opininons on what that thing could do that an armed basilik couldnt?
What you seem to forget is that it will be moving at a high rate of speed and that your not actually being focused on it by a screenshot it will be in game action... its for the inf suits to move quicker not a battle station

How about being totally invisible when motionless, and difficult to spot from a distance when moving full speed (which, by the way, is the fastest of any ground vehicle). The Wraith is easy to see up close, sure, but it is in no way anywhere near as visible as a Basilisk from a distance.
So to directly answer the question, a Wraith can scout a hell of a lot better than a Basilisk.

I think also that the screen was either taken from the same team as the Wraith, or perhaps a 3rd person view from the actual driver. I doubt the guy in the TR tank can see him that clearly, or he'd have never gotten that close to begin with.
Yeah i REALLY hope it's less visible than that. If it's that visible in motion than you might as well grab a basilik, at least the basilisk can defend itself.

What's the purpose of a Wraith? That's right -- to scout. It's the ideal scouting vehicle. Why? You can be very mobile and fairly well concealed from a distance while moving extremely fast, you don't show up on radar in a Wraith, and when still, you are totally invisible. You might as well say "Well if you're so visible when you run with an infiltration suit, you might as well get some Agile armor, at least it can defend itself." The Wraith obviously isn't for everyone (neither is the infiltration suit) but it definitely has a role to play -- if you use it properly.

I remember seeing the pic...it said it was destroyed....I think...
that screen shot was taken by some one who is an enemy of the nc, as the vanguard's name is in red so most likely that was a behind cam shot from the tr tank
Infil is an armor not a vehicle, it's ok for it to be visible when moving (in fact if it wasn't it would be overpowered) but the wraith is a vehicle, it's sole purpose is to move, if i have to stop and wait for every enemy to pass i'm gonna get bored fast. And since i have no choice but to wait for enemies to pass because if they see me i'm dead (weakest vehicle + weakest armor = easy target) than i'll be sitting around a LOT.
Scouting = cool
Sitting around on an unarmed vehicle waiting till enemy is gone = not so cool

And yet, what scouts do (for the most part) is sit in one concealed position keeping tabs on the enemy and reporting their movements and status back to command. If you don't like sitting around and watching things, scouting is not for you.
It sounds like the wraith is the ideal vehicle for a scout. At a distance it, for all intents and purposes, it will be invisible. Another factor to this vehilce is a quick escape vehicle from an observation position. For instance, the scout is observing the defenses of an enemy base, doing his scoutly duty and is noticed (probably by smart cookie who flips on his darklight from time to time or just passed over the area with his rectile and has adv targeting) and begins to take fire. Obviously, the stealther is gonna want to bug out and found another position. I for one would prefer to have a wraith in this situation as I could just retreat to the next hill, drive behind a bush and disappear until I thought it was safe to go observe again from another spot.
Any scout who does what the guy in the screen shot is doing deserves the pheonix missle I'm going to cram up his craphole.

Ok, n/m, saw it.
But......... I thought the Wraith was a motorcycle, and the Basilisk was a quad cycle?

Currently second one down from top left.
Personnally I feel it was kinda badly done. If it were to be really "predator" style then it woulda left out color like they did on the tires for the wraith. Why they chose to implement the blue, red and yellow to the rest of it I dunno. If it remained in shades of grey like the tires then it would be much less noticable in my opinion.

You have to see the colour. Otherwise you wouldn't know what side the rider was on, and would get a grief point for blasting a ally to the ground.
And I ask again.........

It's sole purpose is to move the player. You don't always have to be accelerating somewhere.

This is the main reason most people don't use stealth stuff. Not being very good at fighting and having to sit around waiting for opportunities isn't very action-packed.
And since i have no choice but to wait for enemies to pass because if they see me i'm dead (weakest vehicle + weakest armor = easy target) than i'll be sitting around a LOT.
Not true at all. In fact, if I were on a scouting mission, I'd grab a Wraith and my trusty inf. suit and a range enhancement implant and go sit on a hill somewhere overlooking the area I'm suppose to scout. If the enemy is there, I can move anytime I want and they'd very likely not even know I was there. Even if they did, as long as I didn't get unnecessarily close (range implant makes it easier) I'd be able to turn and run from anything they can chase me with, and I'd beat them as long as I don't hit a rock or tree or something.

Sitting around waiting is pretty much what scouting is all about. Well, that with a bit of "observing and communicating back to the rest of the group" thrown in for effect.

Not if your crosshairs turns red when it passes over a visible enemy, for example. After all, if there weren't some more accurate way to tell friend from foe at a distance, there'd be cases of FF fire all over the place, especially with Vanu/NC players, as their vehicles aren't as distinclty coloured as the jet black and crimson TR vehicles are.

you can't all be this dumb right?
First of all you all say by yourself it moves FAST
and it's in visible at MEDIUM ranger and above...
if you move FAST then you are FAST passed by and so are you FAST invisible and FAST the enemy loses you...
aint that like some superclear stuff?
Btw the tank couldn't have seen the enemy since a tank doesn't
see as you can see at that pic - he's aiming for the other tank so he will most selfexplaining also looking at it, and if you're in a tank close people wont be visible since they are to close,
maybe someone remembers renegade? same story about the tanks weakness!

Really, if you run across a squad of tanks in a wraith, sitting there and letting them roll by might be the best thing you could do. Obviously they'd be going somewhere if you met them in the middle of nowhere, so you should alert nearby bases, and call in some reavers to have fun with the tanks. So really, you wouldn't be shooting anything, but it wouldn't be boring. :D

thats only one screen of a probably moving animation, in the game the white/shimmering fields will move faster and that way getting harder to spot

Wouldn't expect anymore from a wraith. It's perfect the way it is.

The Wraith is a strategic vehicle. If you want a tactical quad, use the basilisk. It seems right to me, the Wraith is a tool for infiltrators to cross great distances more quickly, but you are going to want to park it to do your thing. It's just an alternative to dropping in from hart or galaxy. The main benefit is that it provides a possible getaway..
I wasn't aware that scouting required you to camp, i myself was planing on being the type who patrolled an area instead of sitting on a hill waiting but yeah the wraith is ok then for that purpose.

Well that depends on the person. If you start moving around, you could miss enemies while you're not in the area, or get spotted and either killed or damaged. I consider it a more ideal option to simply find an excellent vantage point (like a hill overlooking a bridge) and sit there, watching and waiting.
