Smoke Grenades seams to work now...

and yes I only have Windows movie maker and I know it sucks so don't complain plix.

However I wonder if the smoke timer is enough to be used in the open. Even the size might be little small for anything then in door use.

Thats the time where you co-ordinate with 10 other people to throw smoke into a general area, then it becomes something really useful.

Still it does not last for long. Now its like 10 sec before it have moved away. And no having 10 people cast one at the time with 5 sec delay or something like that does not really work. As the point with smoke grenades is that you throw it then move in cover of the smoke.

Only thing 10 people throwing smoke is to get a bigger screen of smoke. I give you that. If you can easily coordinate where every one should deploy the smoke to give maximum effect.

I did notice how the smoke barely lasts any decent amount of time. That should be at least doubled. Maybe its short to see if anyone gets bad performance when its used or they want it to be useless. But hopefully it gets buffed.

Yeah, it seems to dissipate too quickly. Perhaps they're just in for performance tests at the moment, then hopefully tweaked further to a traditional usefulness.

IRNV scope can't see through the smoke though. It's expect it to have a use in that situation.

You mean can right? I think its quite clear in the video that I show that IRNV can see through smoke. However I agree that IRNV should be blacked through the smoke. There are actually modern smoke deployment vehicles that apply some sort of feathers into the smoke that makes the smoke block IR in the way that everything just lit up in the IRNV scoop. So its plausible in the future even smoke grenades can do this.

But before they worked as poorly designed flash grenades....

They have always looked the same to me. Like a short duration stink bomb.

Well maybe they worked before but when I got into the beta in July they did not give any smoke at all. Was just a fire cracker poff. And I tested it again two weeks ago and it was the same. It was not until the last patch they at last looked like smoke grenades.

Maybe the patch affected your ability to see the graphics correctly. They've always looked the same for me.

Also, though short, they do have some uses. Especially if you're packing a bandolier.

Giving IRNV scopes good synergy with smokes is pretty cool imho. This is no NeoTokyo but a little tactic is always nice to have.

Well I have always played this game on high settings with a GTX 680 card... I can't see way it would have been on my end... Besides there was a long thread about how useless smoke grenades was on the beta forum. So it was not just me.

Maybe it was only you who saw the smoke before :p

Duration is too short to be useful it seems like. If you throw one the person will know you have to charge in like the next few seconds to get any use from it so they will throw grenades or spam bullets into it. Only use would be as a distraction.

Well the primary tactic of deploying smoke grenade (G) if you need to move from cover A to B and the enemy is at C... To do a flanking maneuver.

-------C
-------/\
------/-G\
-----/----\
----A_____B

Would be nice if we had colored Smoke in order to visually mark an area for aircraft...

...Don't know how many times I've wanted to flag down a passing Gal that was only half full at best...

THAT. IS A GREAT. IDEA.

Why didn't I think of that? And while we're at it, star clusters and parachute flares.

Seriously, posting this to PS2 forums now.

Planetside 2 has not been using your graphics card, so that doesn't matter. I haven't heard if it is even doing it yet.

If they lasted 2 seconds longer before dissipating they would be 10x more useful.

Just certed my lightning for smoke and it looks like it is useless, lasts like 1 second.

That make no sense what so ever what you just wrote. In no way can you enturpet what I wrote as Planetside 2 have used my FX card. You're just trolling and a bad attempt it was too  Because I really don't think you have the IQ of a pig...
