Character Wipe and Server Name Change 09.17.2012

In order to progress Beta testing, during our update later this week all character data including names will be wiped. Please keep in mind this will not be the final wipe in the testing process.

We also have exciting news! All available servers will be been given new names which will feel more appropriate for the PlanetSide universe.

Yea well I have learned what not to cert into. I most have spent at least 300 cert points into shit that is either worthless or things you can't combo with.

Like you can't have both IRNV and zoom on tanks at the same time.

They should give us everything (weapons and certs currently implemented) a couple of days before the wipe so we can screw around and see what's what. :P

They're probably saving that for the wipe right before open beta, assuming they have one.

I long suggested that they give the servers unique names without numeric designations to spread our the populations. Let's hope the names are all new, because if they make a Markov, Emerald or Werner, it will be West01 all over again.

It will definitely balance things, and get idlers to start playing.

They HAVE stated that at the moment, some slots and the weapons in them are straight upgrades (like A2G rockets) and letting all players use them will let them figure out how things will work some weeks after launch...


because they're hoping that after launch, lots of people will be using lots of weapons and having fun, right?

ya they need to just unlock everything for a couple weeks to everyone so we can all test it all out imo. maybe even a whole month of gameplay like this they will then get a crapload of real feedback and some time during to tweak the guns and vehicle add ons. not to mention they probably wanna see how the skins work in mass numbers make sure there aren't any killing frame rates like the hud.

I sincerely wish for, and hope that, they will post a list of the server names and the corresponding geographic region a day or two before the wipe.

There is nothing wrong with them opening everything up for everyone to try, but it's too early for that. They are still testing the rate at which people can earn things. The AFK issue is a non-issue because they will be adding an AFK timer. Be patient, we're not even 50% there.
