Higby broadcasted last night in-game to change render distance in your Useroptions.ini file to temp fix FPS issues until they can patch. He also said they think the issues are related to tanks specifically and asked that players limit the use of tanks to help everyone's FPS.
EDIT: Just found this stickied beta forum thread too: FPS Performance Issues 09.21.2012 Patch (http://forums.station.sony.com/ps2/index.php?threads/fps-performance-issues-09-21-2012-patch.22235/)
Lot of posts in there but I did see one post by Hackney about this being a bug and they are looking into it. Not to mention Smed all over Twitter saying they are working on it and it is a bug from latest patch.

I haven't yet... I'll check it out in a few.... I really didn't have too many FPS issues last night myself. Perhaps in heavy populated area with a bunch of vehicles it would dip a bit. Is that what is being fixed?
EDIT: Just found your post on beta forums about it: Tank Performance Issues... (http://forums.station.sony.com/ps2/index.php?posts/299539/) *Thank you SOE Post Tracker (http://forums.station.sony.com/ps2/index.php?recent-activity/) ;)
CyclesMcHurtz There was a bug introduced that caused some of the simulations to do three or four times the work they should have.

Why do people refer to low frame rates as "lag"? Back in the day lag meant latency problems with your connection to the server.

Yes, there's definitely something wrong (still) ..... had'nt seen the Higby thing about work-arounds, so I'm using the vanilla uneditted useroptions.ini

We know there still are problems, but the hot-fix was to address the immediate problems.

Back in the day free porn didnt exist either, times change bro. Anyone who has
lag download your latest (Nvidia) drivers, your gaming experience will improve.
Oh it existed, just wasn't as easy to get to as it is today.

Lag and Low-FPS are two entirely separate issues, and describing one as the other won't help people solve their problems.
Words have definitions for a reason.

Lag is also a laymen's term that means: Fail to keep up or to fall behind.[1] In real-time applications, the term is used when the application fails to respond in a timely fashion to inputs.[2][3] The most common use regards online gaming when the game doesn't respond in sync with the player's controls, usually due to a slow internet connection, server latency or overworked hardware.
Lag is also often used in reference to video games to describe the delay (or latency) between an action by a player and the reaction of the game
In the technology world lag typically is something you are describing when talking about network communications though.

Lag isn't a very precise word in this case, so extra information always helps. After reading the rest of the posts it looks like you had a drop in your fps in large battles (which everyone suffered to some extent) - and the patches over the weekend should have patched that back up to more normal performance.
The important thing is to be descriptive - "In big battles, there's a bunch of frame lag" is easier to figure out than just saying "Mother of Pearl, the lag!" - context is everything! 'Lag' covers too many things to be helpful on it's own.

After the past few patches i have seen immense performance increase. Instead of 5 FPS in a bio lab battle. It is 15-20 frames. So keep up the good work and i may beable to turn my resolution onto highest. I'm even surprised its playable on my laptop.

That is a much better image. But that line seems smaller than looking at the map. Maybe its the warped perception of looking at a map.
