***WARNING editing config files for WHATEVER reason "could" get you banned! Using third party AA injectors "could" get you banned! Disabling fxaa really shouldn't get you banned but other injectors are 100% bannable no matter if they harm the game or not. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED***

So this is a quick video on how to disable fxaa. If you hate AA or want to apply your own injector this should be helpful. Using other AA injectors such as the fxaa/smaa injector or SweetFX you can make the game look MUCH better while improving performance at the same time!

Why SweetFX? Well for one it uses smaa instead of fxaa. So it looks better and yet still has a very small impact in performance. 2nd look at that damn screenshot near the end of the video from the forum poster. That looks GOOD

Added a video preview of Sweetfx ingame! @ 302 Found

Nice, thanks for the walkthrough!

Though, I'll bet setting the materials file to read-only will save you having to make the change every time you launch the PS2 Launcher.

Added a gameplay preview of the game using Sweetfx. I am blown away with how it looks! The clarity!

Given that you are absolutely correct in saying that, "visually it's a 100% improvement" and that objectively a person couldn't point out one single thing that looks worse, what are the chances that perhaps SOE could license this tech so that we can see its benefit without getting banned?

Why not use this, even if it's just optional?

Awesome, would love a thumbs up or down from the devs though.

I figured I'd kill 2 birds with one stone and play a few hours with this mod and the free certs. First thing I noticed was small, yet noticeable aliasing, smaller than 4x but larger than 2x (I can barely tell the difference between 4x and 8x normal AA in other games). Second thing I noticed was something about it made my eyes hurt a bit and after 3.5 hours I had a headache. Could have been the HDR or sharpness filter, but I think it had something to do with unnatural contrast levels in the scene, because I get eye strain when I look at something significantly brighter than what I was just looking at (constant pupil contraction and dilation). That said, the atmosphere and distant objects did not looked washed out and night actually looked a lot darker and more convincing (until I turned the brightness up so I could actually see where I was going). Personally, I removed the mod as it's not my cup of tea. However on a related note, one thing that I have noticed is that disabling the SOE FXAA and using the Nvidia driver version, while still crappy compared to normal AA, the Nvidia one doesn't seem to blur the textures of character models as much as the SOE one. No AA at all looks pretty awful -ewww, jaggies! :)

I absolutely love the way sweetfx looks, really hope that the devs say it's ok to use.

Still no answer from anyone about whether its ok or not to use. Has anyone had any luck?

I'd rather have them adding all these options right into the game from the start.... I hope the lack of options was just a beta thing.

I really Wish a Guy like "Hamma" would ask the Devs about "Why cant we have this" ? Or at least Clarify the Options.
Listen i dont say He has to do this, its just something that comes to my Mind, reading and thinking about this.

Why do we need Blurry, foggy not clear Graphics AS STANDARD ?

Is the Dev´s attitude , to remain silent about this ?
Or do i just miss the "official" Statement about this 3 Month´s ongoing Topic,...

..(If my English is Bad, sorry for that)

[@Ceezel maybe this is a Greyzone in rights not to modify files ect., the thing is they could give us official a smaa option and clear view /fog-off]

((In the Past Games had "ever" a Clear View or the Option to turn this stuff on[or off] and we could"ENJOY"the Graphics we have having a Wide View from down the Mountain,...thats the Point)))

Fog reduces frame rate, helps objects fade naturally, and saves memory. Your PC may handle it with no problem, but turning it off would give you an advantage over people with inferior computers. How you feel about that is another thing, but I would imagine SweetFX will attract equal attention for the same reasons. Hopefully, however, I hope it looks too damn good to pass up because I would love to have my PS2 look that good. :D

Looking at the pictures when turned on the mod definitely gives Planetside 2 a Battlefield 3 feel which would attract more players so yeah I'm really liking this.

I think its not fair not to fave a clear view by Default, There are players that will play on Low even they have good computers.

I like good Graphics and i think its a Fair thing, to ask about this thing.

How would SOE be able to see that you are using this?

Reading from a forum, sweetfx is a post processing shader. If it is client side, isn't it like having a program run at the same time? Like a lense you add to your screen?

I don't see how SOE could notice you using this.

It's not an aimbot, it doesn't make me warp, and if it can increase my fps when I only average 20 why not?

I think it looks good but all players should be looking at the same thing. Period.

So I would have to disable FXAA before installing and using Sweetfx?

One concern is how do cloaks look with it.
