30 - 45 seconds on time to overload. Think it should be longer.
Did he say anything about more load-outs slot unlocks? Didn't watch it all.

Seeing Esamir with the trenches, some of the broken terrain, and tunnels has significantly increased my enthusiasm for playing on this map as a mostly Infantry player. The way it was initially described was more for Tanks and Aircraft than Indar, which already heavily favors those things on much of the map.
Q spamming sounds like it will be even more annoying unless they changed other aspects to that feature. Do they realize how often many players hit the Q button? ...enemy tank spotted, enemy tank spotted, enemy tank spotted, enemy tank spotted, enemy tank spotted, enemy tank spotted.... and that's just for one taco detected by one player. :eek:

I'm going to assume your not in Beta, the Shotguns have been in the store under Infiltrator for some time, albeit locked. But these aren't available to PS1 style Infiltrators, but rather the Sniper variety with a very short duration cloak... about 15 seconds, but haven't timed it. So no, not really OP.

I am In beta and i mainly play infiltrator actually close up infiltrator so think of it this way:
You run up to a tower cloaked sit at by door cloaked or run up behind someone you uncloak and shoot a round into the back of their skull and then recloak and go hide.
I can see it being a major problem in the future unless the shotguns arent that strong in which case theres no point in having a shotgun.
And with the other certs it can become a problem with the cloak armor or specter cloak even.

I think it was in the plan all along to give shotguns to infils, but it would reduce their cloaking ability, hopefully to almost nothing if they chose a shotgun. We'll just have to wait and see how they turn out. EDIT: And hopefully they can't silence their shotguns, that would be ridiculous.
Glad to see the changes to generators going in. He didn't mention this, but will there be generators at the smaller outposts again?

The trenches are probably included in the map. What i would like to see are engis dynamically creating their own trenches using a trenching cert. The more levels you have in the trenching cert the engi would be able to create trenches faster. It would be even cooler if the engi then could add pillboxes to fortify their trench, theses bunkers would allow for ai or av guns to look out onto the battlefield. This could get awesome real quick.

oh i just saw the videos so my "trench" warfare got answered and i like it 110% :D
Tho the thing i don`t like is the "fast travel" to Esamir - I want the old Teleporters back :)
Nothing like seeing a Warpgate full of inf and tanks and lightnings rdy to move out to the next continent . But in second thought..... the "cue" in ps1 was rly driving me crazy so i dont know :)

Higby goes to great lengths in the commentary to note the current fast-travel setup is just a placeholder while they work on actual mechanisms.

See they nerfed MAX units at the same time they made it much much easier for more average players to kill MAXs. How bloody stupid.
Haven't played beta since that patch and not inclined to.

Vanu are cold-blooded, so Esamir simply isn't warm enough to sustain VS military operations there.

Ok?? Didn't they want to release this game with 2-3 continents?
Besides the obvious things that this is science fiction (warmsuits anyone?), and that 3-way warfare tends to end up less in one side dominating all the time, why would they want to lock out a whole faction of one third (or even, one half!) of the (at release) game???
Without further explanations this sounds like an incredible stupid idea that completely wrecks stuff that worked absolutely fine before.

I agree they're needs to be some sort of trade off with being able to use a 2h weapon as infil.
However, we havn't seen any of the certs/equipment yet that allow you to see/detect cloaked infils.
As it stands it's not that hard to spot cloakers up close. All the cloak would do is enable people to get closer to their obj/target.
I can camp a corner or doorway just as easy as anyother class. Easier if you take the firepower and armor into account.
I wouldn't even mind not getting a carbine like the light assault and the engi have. More on the lines of a smg. like an mp5.

Patch comes out tonight after servers go down but from their patching history the servers probably won't be up until late Friday night lol.

Trench Warfare sounds awesome. So i like that, and burst fire weapons sound awesome as well. Will be pretty cool to see a whole trench full of soldiers do a suicide charge against another trench. But will have to see the map to see whether those kinds of things are possible.

Esamir seems, so far, much more to my liking. More ground based (easier for vehicles for follow big roads to everywhere), and particularly, it seems more infantry based around the bases, which sounds awesome.
Another change I dig, is that many of the very small capture points are no longer a hex for themselves, but just part of the big base hex, and just gives a spawnpoint there instead. Awesome news.
Very much looking forward to this!

Which sounds really overpowered until you add that the cloak only lasts about 15 seconds and can be seen without the aid of things like PS1 Darklight at short and medium ranges. That the TTK is so fast in this game that a shotgun won't make a lot of difference, that PS1 Infiltrators with real cloaks could kill players very fast with an AMP or NC shotgun pistol, and that wasn't the go-to 'class' (or rather playstyle) in PS1 for powergamers. That PS2 Infiltrators already use the semi-autos like shotguns. And lastly you don't even need a cloak to sneak behind some players... I've followed right behind enemy players for as long as a minute with no cloak on before killing them or them realizing I was there at all.

Looks like a great update. Esamir looks amazing (aside from it being another square), trenches, timers on generators. I noticed the old PlanetSide music they added in as well... chills. Two things though:
-I hope they meant they are working on making the Warpgate the way to get to other continents.
-Why so much unused space? There are tons of spots on the outside edges of Esamir where more hexes could be placed. We could have beach battles.
