View Full Version : Resources really piss me off.

I know why they're in the game so you have to pay to play the game but they'll ruin the game and cause people to quit rather than pay. I mean I killed 13 people in a row to capture a base with a lovely foot zerg before I died and I respawned and the only vehicle I could use was the ATV.

All the frigging time I find myself not being able to use a vehicle because I haven't got enough resources and yet the game isn't even clear how or when you get them. They aren't a satisfying game mechanic because it feels more of a hidden feature that is never explained but it is stopping you from playing.

Not only do you have resources but you have the time limit. So I get in an ATV and straight away I get run over by a friendly tank and it turned me upside down and blew up. You know SOE a much better mechanic would be what Halo did with the vehicle and have it just kick you off. So I respawn and oh look I cannot get another vehicle so I end up waiting around for a few mins.

Planetside I could get in a vehicle any time I wanted really, there was no dumb pay to win resource system and there was only a timer. So because TTK was much longer in Planetside, you'd rarely ever die before the timer run out and if you did the cert system normally had another similar vehicle tied in.

However Planetside 2 I find myself not being able to play how I want because I constantly need resources, you know running across a frigging map or spending half hour missing a battle traveling on the ATV is not fun.

Pay to win or "pay to not be guaranteed to lose quite as fast."?

I can't recall ever having not enough resources to pull a vehicle..

Yeah the only time I had trouble is when I tried to pull a max when I was low on that particular resource. I mean if you are tired of the Zerg now, imagine if there were no resources.

I agree. Resources are an intransparent way to sell us stuff in the future. They add nothing to the game in their current form, except for frustration.

I'm thinking maybe a one-time 10,000 dollar "get everything forever" bonus offer would be something I would buy.

Said nobody, ever.

Auraxium is the only thing pissing me off right now. It controls far too much in the terms of gameplay and populations. People will do about anything to earn auraxium at a faster rate even if it means camping warpgates for hours on end. Then the 4th empire hops on the winning empire to rake in the free auraxium which they did not earn and wastes server space AFKing or dicking around in the warpgate.

I can't say I've been starved of resources too many times, but I'm more of an infantry type of person. I can hop in a tank and do well, but I like running around and flanking the enemy, taking out that god damn sniper bothering everyone. The only time I've been limited by resources was when I tried to pull AMSes after one got blown up by a sneaky tank before the zerg spawned on it. But since AMSes are 450 French fries, or whatever the hell it is, you are not meant to spam them.

The resources are also currently one of the things causing the empires to have unbalanced pops (when they added the 2nd cont, Esamir)....

I just wanna pilot aircraft all the time and have fun doing what I want to do but the game just stops me and says "no, one Mosq/Reaver per hour" lol. Frigging

I'm not paying to earn resources faster.

Like I said I killed 13 people in a row and gained no resources :\ I captured two points doing it and gained nothing.

Resource imbalance is not important right now !
Why ?
Because even is you have infinite resources population whit greater number will always prevail (More people =more resources = more tanks / air = not fun ! )
So to balance resources they need first to balance population caps

IMO i don't think they can easily solve this difficult problem whit current gameplay system

I think onw thing would fix this. Honestly resource gain rates are fine IMO. The Cap is the issue.

750 resources means I can pull a magrider, and if it dies right away from a lone mosquito or something cheesy I can pull only one more before I am locked out of my preferred play style.

If it was something like 2000 then I could bank enough to have buffers for those events.

The cap is the problem, it needs to be higher.

I never had any problems with low resources for vechs till I started playing infantry more often. The prices of nades, claymores, etc is pretty ridiculous lol.

The resource system is failing. If you devs truly want you to play the game the way you want to when you want to. There should be no limits on how many vehicles you can pull. They can leave a timer so people aren't using aircrafts for transportation, but dont limit us on some bull shit system where everyone is always has the same 1/3 of the map and is getting the same resources.

I've learned ot be careful with my vehicles. I as well, don't have a problem with getting the vehicles I want...most of the time.

But let's adress the biggest problem most of you are missing

Ahem...the more territory you have...the more resources you receive...the more vehicles you can produce...

In real combat, the ones with endings, this is a fine and expected.

I indeed played on a server when we got pushed back nearly to the warpgate with no acess to the tank producing resource.

We were camped relentlessly. In ps1, it didn't matter, the pops were what made the difference.

As the system is now, all it's going to take is one good push and an entire faction will not be able to leave their "sanc".

This is the biggest issue that needs to be adresssed. Not the fact that some people don't know how to manage their assests.
