Airlift used Adobe Photoshop 7
I would suggest GIMP, it's free, and more powerful that PS7. A bit harder to use though.

paintshop pro is a good bet, and free for 30 days, unless you know what box to look at.sk

I do know how to use photoshop (even taken classes in it), but I lack the desire to shell out $500+ for it, and I've never cared to be l337 enough to know a warez site to download it.
So, I spent some time to see how far I could stretch MSPaint. Came out fairly well, but the save-to-jpg that MSPaint uses really dirties up what would otherwise be a clean line. Had to do lots of floating pixel removal to get it to look decent.

OMG Matuse thats good for mspaint!!!
But its not hard to find a site with a key generator on it or a code crack.
You could probably randomly type in a URL into your browser and come up with a result.
Try decoding my coded message for a good search engine. :)

I love free stuff, too, but gimp is nowhere near as powerful as PS.
In PS, I can do some really amazing photo-editing work in 10 minutes that would take a half-hour or much more in gimp. And I used gimp for many more years than Photoshop.
Of course, that was back before I knew that Photoshop can occasionally be free.
Culkid looks like he used paint lol j/k
