So Jennyboo and I got to use the PlanetSide 2 App a little bit today (iOS Version, Android not quite done yet) and I must say it is pretty sweet. The detail on the map is awesome you can really zoom in and get very high detail on it. You can look up weapons in the app as well as players and outfits.

All data is live including weapon stats so if things change in game they will change in the app. It's going to be the perfect companion on a tablet to playing the game.

I don't have it in front of me but if you guys have any Q's I'd be glad to try and answer them. :) I may not respond right away but I will do my best to respond on and off over the next couple days.

If it's in realtime, hopefully it doesn't drain too much battery life. >_>

It's not 100% realtime but it will be pretty close.

I have an original iPad with iOS 5.0, please tell me that I can still use this app. It's bad enough that apple have dropped us like a hot potatoe, it would be another nail in the coffin for those of us that have been hit by the the economic slump and cannot afford to upgrade Mobil devices every year.

So the map updates "near"-realtime to the conquest? or is it just a zoomable static map?
How about outfit communications?

Would love to have it running on another monitor.

Would like information on Voice comms. Also will this be able to run on a PC as a background app as well? (I don't have any handheld device because I am backwards and like it that way.)

I had been wanting to see some feedback on the app for quite some time, and I'm glad I saw this post. So happy to hear how awesome it is. I can definitely see myself looking up positions on my phone while taking the fight to the enemy.

The release date for the API and app aren't announced but I don't think it's far off.

Didn't get to mess with any of the voice stuff.

If I remember correctly they said you would be able to interact with the game via a drone or something? Was any mention of that in there or was it strictly stats? Do you see it as being a valuable companion for a CR5 with a Ipad next to his PC running this?

Drone strikes? OS?

Can you access the app, or something similar, with a regular PC's web browser?

Drone strike stuff was mentioned as a distant thing a few months ago. Nothing like that exists right now.
