Anyone have a P4 2.53 ghZ processor?

What did you get the OCing up to with a stock Heatsink?

People that have a 2.2 to 2.6 could probably give me an idea of what they did as well.

Thanks

Overclocking makes me nervous with my luck. :(

It's a lot safer with a Intel processor then an AMD. Intel's will slow themselves down to not overheat AMD will not slow down causing them to burn out.

hm.. i managed the ever popular P4 1.8 to 2.4 OC on stock heatsink and it works great and stays cool and quiet.

Amen though, that p4 down clocking feature saved my ass awhile back when I tried to hook up a rheobus and I messed it up and subsequently was running the maching for nearly 20 minutes with no cpu fan and a 600mhz OC :/

A friend of mine is currently running a 2.53 to 2.9 overclock on the stock heatsink. he tried for 3.0 but it was running a little to hot, so he has a new HSF on order.

I do not OC my stuff, it works well enough as is, and cost me too much to have it go away just to get another 10% out of it :p

*2.5 P4/G4 4600/500 DDR/80gig/60gig

Works very well, and I would like it to stay that way ;)

I've been running my 1.8 > 2.4 oc on stock heatsink for a little over a year and a half now and I have no problems at all. I refuse to buy expensive cooling solutions just to get a better OC though, because to me, that money is better spent on getting faster components to begin with :/

My only real complaint is having to use cas2 ram.. it's so expensive <:)

xp2100+ (stock 1.73ghz) running at 2.3ghz :)

there really isnt any point into over clocking anymore, CPU's are so ridiculously fast stock why waste the time or risk breaking it? honestly I think its just like car people do about ricers...

It's a challenge. :) Also for the same reasons people build model cars/airplanes/etc. It's fun to tinker with stuff and when you OC it forces you (if you do more than basic OCing) to tinker. :)

yea but I don't go strapping bottle rockets to my model airplane to see if it will fly.... (well, at least not to MY models ;))

sorry, but that is the fun part, but I am not going to risk a few hundred $$$ for OC, but I wil waste 10 bucks for a rocket model airplane ;)

Actually, the new mobo from ASUS (Model# A7N8X) features an auto-slowdown/shut off of the processor if it gets above a certain temperature..sounds great for OCers =)

however in practice it is as useful as a kick in the nads.

it simply does not react quick enough to prevent AMD CPU's frying. :( if it works at all.

P.S Why, if you decide to upgrade would you go out and spend 100+ on a new CPU when upping the multiplier/volts/fsb will give you a new, faster CPU for nothing (well the cost of decent cooling)

my PC is better in games from overclocking than @ stock, simply becasue overclocking does not simply increase the speed of the CPU, it increases memory bandwidth = greater throughflow of data, increase bus speeds (bit dodgy) :)

Well my upgrade is complete. I replaced an Intel mobo and a 1.8ghZ 423 pin CPU with:

Asus P4T533-C mobo and a P4 2.53 478 pin CPU.

I OCed my CPU to 2.81 ghZ and it's running well.

my other specs are:

GF4 ti4600 OCed @ 320/675
60 & 80 GB WD HD's 7200 RPM
512 RDRAM PC800
Audigy Platnium 5.1
then my drives

This upgrade should last me a year or two ;)
