So I finally purchased Alpha Squad

Yup, "stingy old man buys great value deal - News at 6!", right? Well, yes I suppose, why not share!

The clincher for me was the name reservation.

I already had 3,000 Station Cash so I didn't really need 4,000 more. I wasn't really interested in the camos (but now I am going everywhere in my red, white, black jammies! /hug T-Ray). A 10% XP boost is nice, but not something to go crazy over. The decal? Sure, thanks, I guess. Title of "Founder", yes let's make an even loner name so people can see us coming from farther away. I half considered reserving the name "i".

The 12 free weapons, this i like.


So in the end, stodgy old me purchased the Alpha Squad because,
It was $40 of Station Cash for $40, so no "loss". Name reservation is cool. Free weapons saves me time or money.

I will probably buy it the week before it expires. I am still saving for the rig to play the game so I want the peace of mind of actually being able to play before I purchase.

I am 100000% positive I will buy it, I just dont know when.

I bought it some weeks ago, but was dissapointed to see that the server is full, put in a queue with an advertisement to become an elite member to avoid queues. Then i watched as the countdown timer went from 51st down to 1st and after about 10 seconds kicked me back to 46th in the queue. I have been searching for some info on this elite member deal, but no luck so far, just wondering if they are looking for more money for this privalige?

Bought Alpha squad immediately they announced EU players will keep their accounts. That was my only gripe with PS2, and there is no reason not to have Alpha squad.

It was $40 of Station Cash for $40, so no "loss".

Basically its a loss, since they run many 2x 3x cash deals, so if you dont need Station Cash right now its not that ideal deal.

SC is retroactive due to being an account based wallet. If PS1 has an SC store, any SC you buy now will be usable there.

I got sick of waiting so I went ahead and ordered Alpha Squad.

I wanted to reserve my name and get a few beta keys for friends. I am hoping that since I already had beta, by purchasing Alpha Squad I would get two more. I have a feeling I will only get one buddy key.

Either way, a must have purchase for Planetside fans.

I'm really not sure about the alpha pack. I do intend to spend some money on weapon unlocks after launch, but I'm really not caring about XP boosts, titles, camo etc.

How does the 12 free unlocks actually work? Can you choose which weapons to unlock?

You dont get to chose which weps, there is a list of what you get out there somewhere. but the cool thing is, I am pretty sure you get all of these unlocks on all of the servers you play on with the account you have Alpha Squad on.

I don't know what these weapons are supposed to be like stat-wise, but at least we know what kind of weapon it will be (i.e. not real gameplay-changing weapons like shotguns, heavy weapons or guided missile launchers).

Assault Rifle - Fast rate or fire allows it to output a large of amount of damage in a short period of time, making it very effective at short to medium ranges.

VS - H-V45
Carbine - Balanced weight and controllable recoil allows the operator to maintain accuracy over automatic fire.

VS - Pulsar C
LMG - Features three fire modes, allowing it to easily adapt to most situations on the battlefield.

The alpha squad package is definitely worth it compared to regular SC price, it's a good way to help the devs and may even appeal to those who wish to be a beautiful and unique snowflake when the game gets older. However there is no reason to hide its limits.
But today is indeed a good opportunity to compensate for the package's rigidity :)
