VS
VS weapon tuning; faster projectile speed (fastest per weapon now), less damage loss at long range. Better emphasis on high accuracy.

Good news.

TR
@demonicking08 TR are best fire rate, best overall DPS, best sustained damage. Low recoil, medium damage, large ammo capacity.

Best rate of fire and low recoil? I'm trying to see some draw backs to playing TR and I'm not seeing them.

Maybe they are going for less burst, consistant damage and larger CoF ? i.e. accuracy from bullet storm rather than accurate fire.

The low recoil/high RoF would be to facilitate sustained fire over a target and compensate for inaccuracy.

In short, you will fire a lot (high ammo/high RoF/lower damager per bullet but higher damage output) over an area you can easily (less recoil) but inaccurately (higher RoF) aim at.

So VS is easy aim mode,

Skilled TR players will own, the rest of the TR will get owned.

And NC arent mentioned which means HIgby secretly buffed them to own everything but the most skilled TR players.

Just my sarcastic opinion

DISCLAIMER: this is all theorycraft.

VS easy mode ? He never mentionned VS weapons would hurt as much...
:)

Considering that:
- NC are supposed to hurt a lot (high damage per shot but lower quantity of bullets per time and a hard time controlling sustained fire)
- TR are said to have the highest damage output (less accurate but high quantity of bullets per time landing with an easier time controlling sustained fire)
- VS will have the least damage-degradation, high accuracy (small CoF? less CoF expansion? Does it include recoil?) and near-instant hits

If you play VS, you better be able to aim and pray Vanu really hard cause you're in for a rough ride if you can't.
:D

Also, remember that recoil+accuracy drop when you get hit ? That's right, the TR have it good.
:)

IMO, NC/VS might become the most technical to play compared to the TR.

Draw back = being part of The Empire of jackboot thugs :) Remember, we also have mobility in our vehicles and I've been told by many an NC and TR player it's hard to see us in general, at night, because of the colors of our armor and suits.

I've no doubt there will be more balance passes before launch

I really hope so. Don't like this new patch, the guns seem even worse for the VS now- or maybe its the TR and NC being buffed more than needed.

I think you should watch the movie "enemy at the gates" TR is russia. VS is obviously Germany(we have the technology) and i guess NC can be france. 4th empire is the rest of the allies.

The TTK is so LOW, if you can aim at the same place twice... NC.

everyone else, we can party at VS warpgate.

This patch for the VS has been pretty good so far. Guns definitely feel more useful at range.

Nice work. ♥

Seriously? Some put a lot more value in accuracy and cone of fire, TR aren't good at either lol.

Best rate of fire and low recoil? I'm trying to see some draw backs to playing TR and I'm not seeing them.

ROF by itself isnt an advantage. Because they have lowest damage per shot, they have to land more shots and fire more shots just to break even. If they did not get a lower recoil then ROF would be a disadvantage. Because they have to fire more shots and the damage is lowest they need larger capacity magazines, and more overall ammo.

The result is highest sustained dps and throughput. It does this at the cost of burst damage and needing to fire many shots accurately in order to realize that advantage.

VS while lower dps on paper have more accurate weapons, which means the actual dps should be competitive, because they will miss less than TR and NC, especially at range. Thats why it is hard to balance VS...people who run numbers run theoretical dps, not actual dps when accuracy of the weapon is factored in. Less shot deviation, no bullet drop, and faster projectile speed all amount to a more accurate weapon which should more easily land shots than a TR spraying full auto and having reduced accuracy.

So all of the "advantanges" of TR are really a requirement in order for ROF to be a meaningful empire advantage. The downsides are lower alpha strike (burst dps), and less accuracy than VS. Those are the other empire strengths. TR should have highest sustained dps, most ammo and a reduced recoil to compensate for that higher rate of fire in order to realize that advantage.

Do you think having a higher sustained DPS and a larger clip size works in battles as large as we have seen in Planetside 2?

I'd be curious to know if SOE balanced the weapons based on a 1 vs 1 encounter or something larger.

I feel the scale of Planetside 2 is really what is causing the "appearance" of balance issues.
