If NC were true Space Marines they'd be loyal to the Terran Republic. Marines don't rebel against government.

This is true and while I like Warhammer 40k I am glad there are not any chain-swords in this game.

This might have held true before the Horus heresy but the Vanu is nothing like the obscurantist state it is as of 40k.
If anything it would be the TR and their fight in the name of a head of state that has been severed long ago.

NC are not rebels, they are paid corporate thugs masquerading as "freedom fighters". Their job is to ensure their corporate owners dont have to adhere to any rules or regulations and can pursure profits without regard for anything else.

They are called New Conglomerate for a reason, its a conglomeration of big corporations to fight for whatever their interests are, which clearly will not be to secure freedom for some lowly person. Profits and greed are what they are here to defend.

I can't understand why anybody would think that the NC or VS are equivalent to the WH40k SMs considering how many parallels the TR have in comparison.

If you're not into the story behind Planetside (like me), you could always associate them by their different botanical properties: NC are bananas, TR are apples and the VS are eggplants.

TR is a lot more like the Imperial Guard actually. And the NC being rebels are of course nothing like the Space Marines. Who don't tolerate traitors. Or heretics like the VS for that matter.

This looks just like the fighting on Indar. All we are lacking are equippable knives and dual wielding.

The vs have to be eldar. The nc are the traitor legions and the tr follow the false emperor.

They've definitely fought "the government" before.

Does this mean Higby is in league with the Chaos gods?

Judging by appearance.
VS - eldar.
TC - more like imperial guard or maybe TAU (armor resemblance)
TR - "mini me" size marines.

Vanu are Eldar. Vanu Sovereignty are humans who the Eldar have manipulated into fighting the Imperium by convincing them they are gods.

NC use magnetic weaponry, so they are somewhat similar to Tau, but really they are nothing alike. There is no cyberpunk race that uses advance weaponry supplied by megacorporations that are just looking for a profit(but I've always been a strong supporter of something similar being added to 40k). So they are one of the many unnamed human forces rebelling every day within the Imperium.

TR are obviously Imperial Guard, but perhaps a slightly more advanced force, such as the Elysian Drop Troops. They jump from aircraft and use rapid response vehicles to great effect, which fits the TR idealogy of speed.

If they actually did a big 40k shooter MMO they would make the TTK slower I imagine to make melee viable. Which would be fun to me. Shame they actually were doing something like this but didn't it get canned due to THQ's financial problems?
