Hello all,
I was putting this post off because well, i actually had fun playing the game most of the time.
Having mentioned that i have a few points concerning the game which may or may not have been discussed allready. But id like people to wiegh in nonetheless if they want to.
One of the most important things is the playability of the game.
This was pretty good untill the first patch after the introduction of esamir.
After that a lot of people got performance issues in the form of low fps, crashes, and freezes. I have to wonder why that is and why it is continueing up to this day.
Second, after a few problems starting up earlier on this week. (things have been adressed) But at one of the logincrashes i got a pop-up naming my videocard and saying it wasnt good enough to play the game.
My problem with this is i bought a new graphicscard just when i was admitted to the Beta. How are things like this going to be handled ?
Will there be a pop-up after you spend money saying i cant play unless i upgrade my graphics card again?
Its a 1gb budget-card but imo it should do the trick.
On to more specific ingame things that bother and/or raise questions.
One of the simplest ones is how stairs work, specificly the first two steps.
If you run outside you can clear 40 centimeters easy without jumping.
Most stairs ive seen do not let you "walk" onto the first two steps although they are lower then a lot of other obstacles you can just walk over. It just feels really wrong.
The fact that one cant jump well if he/she is touching base with the object the character is trying to get over. The problem has been noticably adressed
but not quite there yet. Ofcourse the reason could be that you simply jump higher after gaining some momentum. In that case i guess it has been fixed enough and working as intented.
The next issue is the cancellation of medic/engi/lock on when someone walks across it. If this would be life i guess there would be a good reason for the effect to halt, but this is a game and having people walk across your healing stream the whole time and causing a lot of failed heals is simply very frustrating.
The grenades.. They deserve an entire chapter on what is going wrong with them but ill keep it to a minimum.
1: the bug thats letting the grenade go off at point of where you threw it from is just really obvious and bad and i hope this is fixed within the next patch.
2: The predictability of the path of the grenade and the ability to time their throw, thereby controlling the throwing speed and the fact that we cant cook grenades.
Damage/max range is all fine imo.
Performance upgrades, more specific the speed upgrades.
The amount of speed one gaines from a rank speed is minimal, 2 to 4 km/h an hour. For most vehicles i agree for this to be so low, i mean upgrading the speed of a tank or libby to 150 or even 200% would break the game.
On the other hand there are vehicles that have their specialities in speed and they have been given the same speed allowance each rank.
The scythe and the flash should be more effective concerning speed upgrading then 2 or 4 /hour. Imo 135 to 150% speed for max speed ranked
isnt over the top and actually a reason to spend hard earned cert points instead of the minor speed upgrade now.
On a different note, if the flash is an off-road vehicle it shouldnt be that rigid.
Give the thing a little more basic suspension so people trying it out for the first time do not decide to "never get on that death-trap again".
An idea could be the introduction of motorcycles but i understand why that would be a too big a task for it to be interesting to do. <(^_^)>
Something im really missing is kill-cam, in the old version of planetside you had a chance to learn something with it and now all you can do is shrug or go mental each time you go down without understanding how exactly.
This would also mostly profit new players and letting them learn better tactics/campspots and all the other fun stuff you learn from kill-cam.
Im assuming that each player can only have one account and one character active per account once the game launches. The reason i mention that is ive found there to be an increasing number of level 1 characters griefing at the warp-gate. One must assume these are people who fight on the other side venting some agression. Nonetheless this is unwanted behaviour and should be planned against. If a new player were to log-in for the first time and being shot by a griefer a few times at the warp-gate it would spoil his or her fun very quickly.
Sniper rifles :i dont like snipers, but i guess they have their purpose.
The only thing i would like to mention is that there is one sniper that kills with a single hit on startup. This belongs to a single faction so people that like to be snipers or have to save up a lot of certs or have to switch race.
This differance could be a little bit less imo and i couldnt be bothered which way tbh.
Im also wondering if all the beta players get their own decal since the people from alpha squad get one with alpha i hope the loyal testers who where there from the beginning giving feed-back where needed get their own beta-decal. This should be easy and maybe allready in the planning but i thought i should mention it.
There are more then a few more points but ill post those after coming patch.
Thanks for reading.
Till next post.
