Oh, server names got released? Where abouts please? I don't see anything on Smed' twatter.

Why do they sound like a BBC comedy act from the 1950s? :rolleyes:

Whether or not it will be "hard-mode" would like it if all the old Wernerites end up on the same one regardless. It's only a name at the end of the day, not a big deal, just more important that we all pile on one. And then be patient as the queues (they'll launch with too few and then turn more on I bet) dissipate as people up and leave the game. :p

But that's how we begin to get split up isn't it? :(

Some outfits play a bit more on one than the other and decide to stick with one because their characters are more advanced (or they spent their SC there).

If we're trying to stick together we really do have to tough out the early days of too much demand and too few servers and just pick A server and run with it regardless.

12k of people capacity seems bonkers to launch with, they will have to be turning more on near instantly you'd think. Especially as the time the man pushes the red button on the Tuesday is prime time for us (not counting the DL'ing of the new client).

Considering the 100K+ people that liked PS2 on facebook, 6K players per server under the current continental gate system and 7 servers, 42K is achievable, but probably insufficient even if they won't all play at the same time.

Hopefully new continents will arrive shortly so the intercontinental system can start being tested.

Nothing we can do about that first bit though? That's all SoE. All we can do is agree a server and rough out the first few days, if we all want to end up in the same place that is anyway.

Amen to the last bit, the longer the game is little more than a larger scale [insert generic shooter] with three, static, never-ending cluster-fudge three ways and all we do is log in an pick a map to go brain-dead three waying the shorter its life-span will be in general. :(

Good to know .. it sounds like Miller may be the one, there's a couple of other outfits I'd like to hear from before we decide finally.

Braveheart's cottage .... they should have put that somewhere in an Easter egg kind of way.

@Figment - I agree, I'm expecting servers to be full so will most likely set up an outfit on both servers. Even if I don't use the char on server no. 2 much I can log in daily and accrue passive certs.

Ok, how about we call one as a Primary server (when there is a bit more consensus over weekend). That'll be the one where we look at making characters that have their station cash blown on 'em and where, eventually, when the dust settles, the Wernerites will be mostly?

They have servers ready to go up in case they need them. They jsut rather want to fill the servers to the max first, and then open new servers, instead of having us all split across a whole bunch of servers. :)

Miller will have quenes at the beginning, just as Pinnocio. After a few weeks, things should be fine. Initial rush is always madness :>

On a side note I am surprised that they won't be having more servers up and running at launch. Isn't each server limited to a maximum of 6000 players as it stands currently?
It does make sense to force players to fill up the current servers before opening up more, don't want to see a repeat of SWTOR, but I'm sure they will be needing a lot of new servers very quickly.

In the meantime I'm sure Mr. Smedley will be sitting and watching as the money starts flooding in, laughing manically while petting a white cat... Obviously because he just thought of a funny joke he heard down by the water cooler and not because it was the plan all along.

You see, the Americans need to think it's been 'democratic'. They need to argue it out, divide themselves arbitrarily then smugly attest that they're on the right side, creating excessive amounts of inter-server loathing, hatred and confusion, all the time neutering themselves and ensuring that all their servers contain only trace amounts of awesome.

We, on the other hand, are far more civilised. Someone makes the decision, everyone else follows it and are far stronger for it. Miller will be the scene of far more epic battles and concentrated awesome because we, as a people, know how to do as we're told. Well, you do, peons. Muahahhahahaaaa.

Three I heard. Anyone confirm/deny? EDIT. Well three per account with the option to buy more slots, dunno about per server though.

No idea if that includes built in fourth empiring with different empires on the same server. Haven't seen anything said or not said about that from the dev's.

Well you gain 12 Certs/day (passiv) right? So if you create chars just for the passive Certgain... thats only 84 days until you can test a 1000 Cert Weapon *g

Think, but don't quote me on it, that folks with a sub' get slightly more passive certs per day as well.

Believe that was in the last sub' bundle we knew about before the beta forums got nuked, probably same post in here someplace.

Passive cert gain is also locked to 24 hours of in activity. If you havent "touched" that char for 24 hours it gets no more passive gain.

For the last few days of beta we all had a premium +25% boost active as well, so the 12 a day may actualy be 8.

iirc, last I read it was:

3 characters per account.
1 character per server.

It could be 10 - as I believe it will be mostly irrelevant.

The game requires an ongoing cert investment. One you've spent a few thousand certs you don't get 'new' certs any quicker on a new character. So the only question is if you will play a different empire on a different server.

I thought it was 8 initially, then "nerfed" to 6 and with the latest Cert-Patch raised to 12?

my european outfit is wondering which server to join

we are tempted to join a US East server for better teamwork and communications (no different languages)

Well, speaking as someone who played in PS1. You will find no difficulty in communicating on the european server. 99% of the chat in the command channel was in English, the greatest exception was the Russians.

So I wouldn't think it a problem.

It is true that quite a lot found communicating in text far easier than speaking English, but we'll manage I'm sure.

Anyone remember that back in the day there was kind of an opinion on Werner that they were more skilled than the Emerald folks?

And a bunch of people decided to go over and make an outfit to show Emerald how it was done and with all modesty they called the outfit GOW, Gods of Werner.

I don't know how it went.

I know they used to call us a bunch of plasma n00bs, but hey, the Thumper worked. :p My experience on the US servers was that there were a ton more ineffectual snipers camping each other, more footzerging in general and a ton more useless /comconts and /globals about what that particular CR5 had just eaten or expelled.

Ps2 has a chance to settle all of this in the future.

Intercontinental E-sports. All the Franchise areas, US, EU, Antipodeans, Ruskies and whoever else could all have a Ps2 World Cup. :D

Which helps suggest that Werner was more of a community in general than the US servers, that it seems more of us are still in touch with each other nine years on and are prepared to go to more lengths to keep on playing together. :)

You see, the Americans need to think it's been 'democratic'. They need to argue it out, divide themselves arbitrarily then smugly attest that they're on the right side, creating excessive amounts of inter-server loathing, hatred and confusion, all the time neutering themselves and ensuring that all their servers contain only trace amounts of awesome.

We, on the other hand, are far more civilised. Someone makes the decision, everyone else follows it and are far stronger for it. Miller will be the scene of far more epic battles and concentrated awesome because we, as a people, know how to do as we're told. Well, you do, peons. Muahahhahahaaaa.

Seriously, its a no brainer for us. We have two servers, so its just a simple decision. I just picked the one folks were leaning to anyway for the VS, and im happy that all those TR and NC outfits are just jumping in. It will be a gigantic blast for us, once we managed to get through the quenes. :D

AS for the US, its really not as simple. Plenty of the US outfits of old got EU guys playing with them as well. They pretty much need to take a East server.

On the other hand, some US outfits are US only, with loads of folks being west coast. Pretty much the result of Planetside 1, Markov and Emerald, and later the Merge or everything into Gemini.

Anyway, EU folks: I hope, regardless of the quene Miller will have on release, that you stick with Miller. the rush should die down, and it would be a shame to loose any of you old timers to another server.

just get the subscription right away, and you can pass a big chunk of the quene. ;)

Depends how they integrate the queues of course, might always be best to be a subber even if that should happen. Do we know their plans on this?

Does the subscriber queue have to clear entirely before non-subbers are let in? Or does it, say, let a few subbers in and then let one non in and then a few subbers and so on and so forth?

Good question. I would assume the Subber quene has to be empty before the Nonsubbers get in. In theory you shouldnt have quenes most of the times anyway, and only quick quenes during prime time.

In the subscription section of your SOE account page there is quite a few games including Planetside 2. Click the subscribe button under Planetside 2.

I don't know anything specific either, but speaking in terms of CS it would be a classical mistake to require the high priority queue to be completely empty before processing the low priority.
Even a small high priority queue could mean that nothing else get in. Ever.

So I assume that subscribers will just be put into a faster queue.

I know I am paying for an extra day but in the grand scheme of things when paying for 6 months worth of membership, working out as :-

£7 a month

23p a day

So not doing it on Tuesday means I save a whole 23p and have to contend with possible issues with the Servers when 1000's of people are all trying to sub up at the same time (Let's assume 1000's will sub)

Yeah I can take the 23p hit on my finances !! ;)

Yeah Server names are a lillte lame right now. Why not have a base called chuck or george. But as for asking which is the hard mode is like asking which halo server is the legendary server. It all depends on who is online at the time and what are playing with. (not to mention your FPS)
