Hmm, good question. I don't watch many movies, but I would have to agree with you, Swordfish did have a good ending. The Return of the King will probobly have a good ending, it sure did in the book.

Best movie ending ever "The Game". I will watch that movie again and again with people that haven't seen it just to see the look on their faces during the last 5 minutes of the movie.

Repo Man = best ending . . . ever (not best movie though, it might work better if your high or something though)

BladeRunner - (Directors cut only)
Angel Heart - I like endings open to interpretation :)

TheAvantGawk
2003-03-27, 05:06 PM
I forget what happens at the end up Repo Man. That movie was absurd though. The ending of the book Fight Club is better than the ending they put in the movie in my opinion. It's still cool though. What about the ending to What's Up, Tiger Lily? Oh Woody Allen...

The best actor to hit the screen would have to be Bruce Campell and his bad ass one liners that looks like he got off of Duke Nukem.

The best movie ending ever is the one to Evil Dead 3: Army Of Darkness......That shit was awesome when he l3oOm$tIcKed that possessed bitch at the end.

Awesome, I was thinking that no one would bring up Pulp Fiction, but I'm glad two people did. I LOVE that movie.

The Matrix was hella good.

Snatch - LOL, perfect.

Fight Club was sweet.

Swordfish, very cool.

Ocean's Eleven - both old and new - same as Swordfish, very cool.

Blow, favorite Drama of all time.

The Shawshank Redemption - right up there with Blow.

John Q - not as good as Blow and Shawshank, but still a very good and satisfying ending.

Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels - LOL, sweet.

Gladiator - just like Snatch, the ending to this was perfect.

No the scene with the lawnmower far surpassed that man. Best ending aside from Fight Club which had an amazing ending. The un-cut version of Dawn of the Dead. They are on top of the mall. Fully gased helicopter, looks like they are going to get in the copter, stands up, head gets lobbed off and flys off screen...the end. Oh and the Crow had a great ending.

'Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels' and 'Ocean's Eleven' did have kick ass endings.

Also, a not to well known movie called, 'Miracle Mile'

Rev, I thought I was the only one who knew that movie. The whole movie is awesome, in my opinion.

Another good movie that's being WAYYYYY overlooked here is Saving Private Ryan. The whole movie builds up to that one moment over the gravesite. Lump starts in my throat about that time.

Dogma: Ben Affleck gets his "wings" ripped off...

The President
2003-04-21, 02:08 AM
Yeah Saving Private Ryan was an excelent movie, but I find the beginning of the movie to surpass the end. Though the ending was good and really brought a sense of closure to the film, I personally wouldn't hold it as one of the best in my opinion. But in any case from a big war history guy that movie was excelent.

The Road Warrior -- "As for the Road Warrior.. that is the last I ever saw of him.. he lives now, only in my memories.."

Seven - "Ernest Hemingway once wrote, the world is a beautiful place and worth fighting for... I agree with the last part.."

The Professional - "This is for.. Matilda... shit *BOOM!!!*"

SLC Punk - "I know your thinkin it.. I guess Im just another damn poser"

Alien - "..Ripley, the sole survivor of the Nostromo.. signing off.."

Space Cowboys - "You think he made it? He made it."

Silence of the Lambs - "Where are you Dr. Lechter... I'm having an old friend for dinner..."

Those are only a few memorable endings.. Im sure I am going to kick myself in the ass later because I forgot a few.. :)

This is a pretty good thread, really. Old or new, movie endings are a great topic.

Usual Suspects easily has my favorite ending.
I liked the end of Snatch better than Lock Stock.
The end of Fight Club the movie kills the ending in the book.
12 Monkeys is uberfuckingfantastic.
Memento was just all around good stuff.

One that nobody mentioned with a really good ending was Resevoir Dogs.

For some reason, I really love the ending of Full Metal Jacket. It speaks perfectly to the Viet Nam war, imo.
