Figured the fact that you now can actually buy the sub, need its own thread and not hidden on page 8 (http://www.planetside-universe.com/showthread.php?t=50117&page=8) in some other thread.
There is more information in this (http://www.planetside-universe.com/showthread.php?t=44112) and this (http://www.planetside-universe.com/showthread.php?t=43168) thread, but dont know how up to date and or correct those are.

Please post any success or problems you might have purchasing Premium access.

For starters:

Confirmed that the 500sc reward works and was credited to my SC balance after purchase.

Also had some problems with the CC due to the site not handling Scandiwegian letters. Fixed by replacing letters.

So if I'm understanding correctly, the membership (6 months) gives a +50% xp boost and alpha squad implant a further 10% on top? That's plenty enough for me I think I won't feel the need to buy any further boosters.

Something like that...
Until you join a squad ...
and the SL got a 7 day squad exp booster that gives you another 35% boost and you ask yourself what happens if you get one of those, cause, after all, the person with the squad exp booster gets 65% from that same booster as the wearer...
then you have two players with that squad exp booster so will the 35% go both ways and give both of you a total of 100%...
pluss what ever account boost you have from your subscription ?

What i want to know, if its possible to gain like 160% exp boost that way, are there other better boosters that can attach to your account ?

Last but not least how should we then stack this with squad resource boosters and do they work the exact same way stackwise as the exp boosters do ?
That question also includes account resource boosts...

This is so confusing i want beta back again ! :wantbeta:
(jk :))

There is only 1 Boost slot available.

The Alpha Squad +10% is account wide.

So i presume that the SL XP boost or the Premium member boost would require a slot. Makes sense as people would be stacking stupid amounts of XP boosts.

Smed said during last AGN Squad Beacon that Alpha Squad +10% has to be put in booster slot. Subscription bonus is account wide and doesn't require a slot.

Just remember to cancel the subscription NOW so you don't get an unpleasant surprise when you stop playing after 3 months, forget and then wonder why PS2 is billing you!

It's easy enough to re-sub so cancelling won't get in the way of your fun if you do keep playing.

Does anyone know if by canceling early you no longer get 500 SC each month? The website says it requires auto-renew to get it.

Yeah was just wondering about that. Here's the quote from the website

"If you select "Yes", your Membership will be cancelled at the end of your current Membership cycle (when you would normally be charged next).
You will also immediately forfeit any remaining monthly Station Cash amounts you would normally receive between now and the end of your current Membership cycle."

seems like you'll only get 500sc

They obviously want to encourage "running" accounts, could be it looks better statistically, or make sense at their end for mystical interior reasons.

At the very least someone *will* cancel prematurely at some point, no matter what. It is inevitable. So if they want to hold on to those Smedbucks for any kind of purpose imaginable, or indeed unimaginable, that's some of the job done right there!

A more sinister theory is that a running account might have a chance to not be cancelled at all, and continue to provide profit. Just as an afterthought... Thus they should be "encouraged* for that chance alone... :-p

It was supposed to be raised to 16 a day (free players).
Add to that the biggest possible membership bonus, and you get 24 per day.

Can someone tell me what the subscription price for 6 months is in US dollars? I just want to compare and see if we here up in scandinavia get shafted as usual on the currency.

For reference, in NOK it's 510 total (88,78USD) for 6 months, as converted on xe.com today.

Fairly insignificant then considering it takes like 1000 certs to buy something big. That's 42 days of waiting (with logging in every 24hrs) with maximum bonuses =P

I paid $72 bucks, or $11.99 per month for a six month block here in the U S of A.

I think the Euro prices were pretty reasonable. We only need to pay about 5$ more for a six month sub, which is understandable.
It could have been a lot worse.

Of course, it figures we dirty europeans have to pay an extra +23,3% eurotrash fee. *sigh*

I guess I will have to look into ways of ordering this crap via proxy if I choose to do so.

Thanks a lot for checking the numbers for me though. I'm frustrated at the system, not you :)

Why is that understandable? Are you just content about paying more for exactly the same product?

Its 16,78USD more by my count by the way...

But that was converted from NOK. Maybe if you converted it from euros or something then you are just getting a little less shafted. Scandinavians are usually the ones who get to experience the thickest and most splitered end of the shaft in these types of currency deals...

6 month sub: 510NOK (88.78USD equivalent)
Native US price as reported by beerbeer: 72USD.
88.78-72 = 16,78USD

Don't EU prices have to include VAT too? I seem to remember Blizzard having to charge something like 15% on EU subscriptions to their MMO, while no such tax was payable for US/Canada.

Not continously. Altough if interrupted past periods (way back in 2008-10 count), I've had the pass for more than 6+ mo).

I actually subscribed to that not too long ago for EQ2 as I was under the impression PS2 was not included. So I was going to get the pass for other games, and then buy 6mo of PS2.

If I cancel it, can I re-add it as a 6-mo recurring right away? Or do I have to wait until Dec when my paid time expires?

For the most part I blame taxes, not SOE. I know some companies that seem to "round off" the euro/dollar difference, so the prices become quite steap.

And yes, I converted it from euros since I live in Finland. 60 euros comes to about 77 dollars, making the difference 5 bucks... not even enough for a pint.

I'm not really sure about that, might want to contact support. It might work so if you were to cancel the auto-renew and then buy 6 months it would wait until December to charge you but then you might also not get the 6 month benefits until December.

Maybe its petty, but it just bothers me. Yea, some of it is probably due to some obscure tax stuff that is equally stupid in the end (a purely digital service via the internet really has no business being taxed).

In any case it seems that I've moved to the U.S all of a sudden. Greeting fellow americans. How 'bout that election huh? Can't say that not having to pay an extra 20-25% on all subscription and station-cash purchases from now until forever will bother me all that much, petty or no...
