View Full Version : Station cash not being front-loaded on the six month sub'?

Some of my oufit mates are reporting that when purchasing the six month sub' package they are getting only 500 Smed bux, or perhaps none.

My understanding was, from the beta forums, that all of the benefits from a sub' would be front-loaded if buying multiple months in advance. Anyone got their 3k up front or know anything about this please? :)

This was the post from Higby on beta forums.

25-50% increased resource gain.
25-50% increased XP gain.
25-50% increased passive cert point gain.
Note: Each of the above start at 25% and increase by 5% per month of sustained membership up to a total bonus of 50% each at 6+ months membership.
Priority login queue
Early Access to new cosmetic items on the store
500 StationCash each month

Price will be 14.99 / month

A couple notes on this revised plan:

You'll notice that we've removed the previous membership benefit of "increased resource pool caps", this was as a direct result to community feedback. We thought about this a lot and decided it did give a potential gameplay advantage to members. We removed this benefit and added 500 SC to the membership offering to compensate for the removal.
Several of the benefits have an increasing value the longer you maintain your membership. If you buy a multi-month sku you will be automatically elevated to the bonus value for the last month of that sku, so if you bought a 6-month membership sku you would immediately receive the 50% increased cert gain. If your membership lapses you will have 30 days to reestablish your membership to retain the increased bonus amounts.

Hmm. your quote says "500 station cash each month" underneath and separate to the things that get front-loaded. My reading is that SC does not front load.

No, not really made clear at all that it is seperate from the list. I think the "each month" is saying that if you put yourself on a 1 month repeating contract you get 500 a month.

It also says...

"If you buy a multi-month sku you will be automatically elevated to the bonus value for the last month of that"

From that you could rightly assume that the SC would also be dumped in one big package on purchase. It's a big ambiguous still. :(

I don't think so since SC is not on a sliding scale like the XP bonus. It's a straight 500 SC per month. Don't get me wrong, it would be nice for it to be front loaded, i just don't think it is. Of course, I could be wrong.

You should Tweet Smed when he gets up. He's usually good about replying to direct questions like this.

While its not entirely clear, it does say every month. It also uses the term bonus value of which station cash has none since its a flat amount.

Can try, yup. :)

EDIT. Actually on re-reading it for the umpteenth time you're right, it can very much be read that the front-loading only applies to the XP/resource boni.

Hmm...

As soon as I got the confirmation splash screen on my membership my SC balance incremented by 500.

The website says
Comes with 500SC bonus per month. Only with an auto-renew plan.

Posted a tweet for Smed. This sounds like something he'll probably respond to when he's got time.

" If you buy a multi-month sku you will be automatically elevated to the bonus value for the last month of that sku"

I think this is where the confusion is stemming from. They're apparently giving out "boosters" under this sku plan, but not frontloading SC. Whether it's actually intended on is a little vague. I personally will be getting a 6 month sku either way, but would like to add some clarity to said confusion.

Also note that if you cancel a multi-month membership early, you will still receive the bonuses until your paid time expires, however, you forfeit any remaining monthly station cash allowances you would normally get.

So technically if we bought 6 months we could cancel auto-renew after getting 500SC for the 6th month...guess you just gotta make a reminder to do it.

Ok, thanks for input folks. :) Looks like the way it is (500 being every month and not a lump sum) is intended then.

Also note that if you cancel a multi-month membership early, you will still receive the bonuses until your paid time expires, however, you forfeit any remaining monthly station cash allowances you would normally get.

That does strike me as weird though, wonder what the reasoning is behind that.

Seems to me you ought to get all the SC up front, you've already paid for it.

With 500 SC each month you will want to use it without waiting for the next batch, and chances are the item you want is 700 (or more for some camo).
Well, lets just add 2 bucks to your account.
Repeat each month.

They aren't a charity after all.

I have got the 6 month subscription, but looking at the numbers, SOE will be raking in the cash with this game, even more so than if they just had a monthly subscription (which we have all already paid for) and free weapons.

F2P is indeed a cash cow !! - and fair play to them.

I don't know about a cash cow, if you are on these forums you are the exception to the rule, I bet 75% of the people on these forums are in Alpha and will Subscribe because you are dedicated enough to the game already to be visiting forums pre launch

At least 1/2 the population will be playing because it is Free to Play and they do not want to spend money on it.

They aren't a charity after all.

Charity would imply people we're saying they should get free stuff, what is actually being asked for is what people will have already paid money for, that's not charity.

Frankly I agree, if those who had bought A-squad had been given their extra weapons drip, drip over a few months that would have been....well not popular I expect.

But it seems to be the way they are doing things. More than likely as derito said to encourage extra SC buying (something I might look at doing and wasn't planning on as I thought I'd be getting 3k up front).

Que sera, sera.

If I am willing to frontload the money for a 6 month sub., I should be frontloaded the virtual monies associated with the full term of my sub, imo.
