Launch Day Madness

So yesterday was an insane day for PSU as well as PlanetSide 2. We saw a massive increase in traffic to the tune of over 400% over our typical load. Our wiki saw a very similar increase as well.

On this graph you can see the spike exactly at noon time, which was when PlanetSide 2 launched CST.

This is why it was so hard to access PSU yesterday, there wasn't much else we could do besides ride it out. It's the largest spike in traffic we have ever seen as people feverishly attempted to find out information on launch. Followed up by a massive influx of people searching for G37 errors :lol:

Thanks for sticking with us through the rough patch - traffic is still very high today but not near where it was yesterday so we should be pretty stable.

Slightly off topic:

Congrats to the Vanu Sovereignty for being the first faction on the Genudine server to lock a continent on Planetside 2's launch day. Amerish was all purple.

This makes me want to start dozens of threads about how PSU was not prepared for launch and nit pick every little issue on the website, like the whiney threads about PS2 launch.....:D

Seeing as the game doesn't do an expert job at explaining what's going on, or how to get where it's happening, new people have been getting on our ts and asking if there's a PS2 wiki that does a better job of explaining things. I send them here. Thanks for all the hard work PSU!

Looking at the Steam stats. Planetside 2 is the 3rd most played game on Steam, right behind Dota 2 and Team Fortress 2.

Yep it's been hanging out in the top 10 since launch - pretty badass!

Our traffic is settling out now but is still higher than pre-launch.
