View Full Version : Voice Macros, VVM VVM VVM!
Games released and trolling the forums & other media feeds I have found no further information on basic voice macros. I keep finding myself in situations where I desperately want to press V-V-M (move). I get we can 'Q' a target or use local VOIP assuming you have a mic, want to express your breaking teenage voice, some people just don't really want/can't talk.
Also missing is VVH (Hail) because greeting your fellow soldier is curtious, VVB (taunt) because you just killed the Heavy assault with a pistol. The VW a/v/t macros for warnings were ok but meh I guess we have to move on.
Also totally unrelated need Horns for vehicles to work along side VVM, will pay who knows if we get either horns or vvm I might stop running people over eventually.

Absolutely..... if this system is better then I'm a monkey's uncle.
There was even a thread suggesting a voice macro system in a different game the same in concept to ps1 (can't recall off-hand what it was but it wasn't ps1).
I can't understand why a 'good' concept waas thrown out in favour of this.
if it's from PS1, it was thrown out for PS2. that's about 90% of the design decisions in the game.

This above was on the white board from the start of development.

Yeah, I don't understand why they built one that is leeds complex AND harder to use. Who can press v-8 in the middle of a fight? Everything above 5 is hard to press + the voice macros are too few. Need the better system!

I agree wholeheartedly. I miss PS1's system badly.. v.v
Perhaps for SC they'll give you your old PS1 voices back as compensation? No flame war intended, I'm just thinking that's how they'd do it.

I suspect they simply don't have the sound assets yet and are planning to add more when they actually get some money in from the game. In other words, with any luck they're recording them now.
I really hope they're recording them now.
SOE: VVM yourselves!

Of course they have those. They even have alternatives for them in male and female voices. :p

/bursts into tears because it's true
Oh well. The Gal vs. Sundie/AMS as spawn point proves we can scream for several months with one mighty voice and get old proven mechanics reinstated.
What I'm keen on is custom *text* macros. Once more I want to be able to res someone, tap a key, and tell them 'RISE, my zombie minion! RISE, and KILL!'
(You'd be amazed the number of times my patient would sprint away, weapon in hand, while /yelling BRAAAIINNNZZZ..... It was LOL. And I miss it. And I fail to believe it would be terribly development-intensive.)

It's called reinventing the wheel. But I don't have a clue why they did so.
Not a fucking clue.

Tribes created an excellent VGS system right. You barely had to type or talk to communicate effectively with your team. I would love to have such a fleshed out system in PS2...

This thread:
Altered Beast - Rise From Your Grave - YouTube
On topic, I would gladly pay money for a VGS system, the current V>1-9 is too clunky and limited compared to something like Tribes that invented Voice Game Systems (http://www.tribesascendwiki.com/Voice_Game_System).
I'm sure the devs could reach out to the community to do voice acting (I'm sure many will do it for free).

I realized after i zombified it, that it was a quite old thread, none the less, it was a suggestion from the forums on an existing topic on what i wanted to post.. ;)
