Anyone try the Manticore pistol?

Looks good on paper - I assume that I can buy one gun and it will be accessible by all classes that have access to that type of pistol.

I play a combo of Infiltrator and Engineer typically. Having a good pistol would help my Infil the most, I think.

You can try out the pistol for 30 minutes if you want. Click the "Unlock now" button in the store and at the bottom you should see a little blue bar that says "Available for trial" or something like that. From what I can tell, you can try out a weapon for 30 minutes at a time on an 8 hour cooldown.

And yes, if you unlock a pistol then all of the classes that use a pistol can use it.

It feels like a bigger Beamer. It's an improvement IMO, but it still does not compare to the awesomesauce TR pistol.

You can always just create a junk character to trial stuff, then delete it after your half hour of use is up.

I use the Manticore. I ran out of Carbine ammo one day in my LA, my Manticore tore them up..highly recommend

It's two more points of damage for one less point in firing speed - sounds good, but not sure it's worth the certs/money for that.

I did right at the end of beta. Very difficult to tell much of a difference between it and the standard angry-hair-dryer. :(

Slightly bigger mag', slightly more damage per shot and more recoil, that's how it felt.

Me, personally, going to hold out for the seven shot "sniper" variant and the burst firing semi-auto like one. Well....first I'm going to hold out for the Stalker cloak (and earn certs for it) of course. :rolleyes:

You can trial a weapon for 30min every 7 hours, but you can't trial the same weapon more than once a month.

I tried it in Beta, and found it slightly better than the Beamer which is pretty awful. The Manticore just isn't worth 700 station cash or 500 certs. Like others have said I'll suffer the Beamer until better options open up like the other two empires have.
