You know what I want is a heavy urban-type map.

It doesn't simply have to be one map with nothing but outpost structures and paved roads from one end to the other, instead make a map with half fields and the other half heavily urbanized.

I envision just a gigantic outpost like area, with actual outposts and bases strewn within it. The roads can be a simple grid system or they can go all over the place. Point being is that while you can bring tanks in, but do so at your own risk as you won't know what's around the next corner.

They can even make a simple story line that it was some anceint culture and the buildings could look like a crumbling American city, or just do outpost boxes in a city structured manner, doesn't matter, although the latter would be simpler to implement.

In any regards, a fifty fifty mix of urban on one side or maybe in the middle, with fields and forests occupying the rest would be extremely fun and allow for a change of pace in fighting environments without having to leave the map.

I really want something like this too.

Infact, they actually said Esamir was going to have ruined cities or something on it. That didn't happen for whatever reason.

Maybe a map with open terrain and fields like Amerish around the outside with a very built up huge settlement in the centre of the map. Vehicles can duel out on the open plains but driving a tank into the built up central area would be very dangerous without infantry support.

+1 (with reservations)
I think this could prove interesting, although I fear the spawn cluster F's that happen now would seem like a walk in the park compared to what could end up happening in a scenario like this. not to mention the lag of having endless walls and corridors compared to fields and ice plains.

IIRC they said they decided not to do any urban maps (at least for the moment) because those would be too heavy and the game already has a lot of performance problems. I even remember something about bio labs being a lot less cluttered than they should be because of that, now imagine a whole map with as much clutter as a city should have...

Oh well, maybe sometime around the middle of the 5 year plan. Hopefully... :(

Indeed it would be even more cpu torturing than it is now, but we can dream!

Maybe at some point in the future after much optimisation and tech improvements.

Higby mentioned instanced tournaments in his 5 year plan that were somehow linked to the meta game. I suspect most of that will be urban fighting.
