View Full Version : no cutting!

For those of you familiar with tribes, you can recall all the assholes that would cut in front of you while in line usually resulting in 2:00 min. wasted trying to get to the front of the line in a mature manner. And a nice thing was that if someone cut, you could just jetpack up, and shoot the with a spinfuser not having to worry about td, and if you did, you just worried about not KILLING them, hurting them was just a warning to get in the back of the line, and the spinfuser would knock them off the vpad. But i dont know about you, but i dont want to get grief points for shooting someone off the vpad cause they cut. The cutters will realize this and take advantage of it and encourage them to cut.
I am just wondering, will ps have any way to prevent cutting? I was thinking of a way, and a fairly simple way would be to create 2 parallel force fields wide enough for just one person, connected to the vpad, allowing no entrances to vpad without entering in between the force field, and if you want to get out, you could just walk backwards, and if you were trapped, the forcefields would allow objects OUT and not IN. what do you think?

Good idea but I think that cutters will just be shot a few times, hell if my soldiers get out of line in training Ill bolt them to the floor.

Well ya, ghost, but im sure that people from tribes will be in ps, and i'd imagine there are others in games like bf1942, but maybe not. Dunno

yes that REALLY sucked in T2. whoever cut infront of me i jus blew their vehicle up as soon as they got in. but now i guess i cant do that hehe
Meh, i'm a patient guy, some jerk cuts in front of me i just wait (well assume it doesn't take more than 30 secs :D).
The real thing that pissed me off was the idiots who didn't actually cut in front of you while you waited by shooted you off when you where on it.

An INVs an INV. And fucktards are gonna do gay shit around them. But i doubt game play will be so frivolous that you can't wait to loadout. Otherwise maybe just gimp 'em and force them to TK you. Then they get teh grief points. Hell, even in tribes, i just let the fucktards go. They need to loadout fast so they can die senselessly again. Other than that, anybody else who can inv fuck you out in the field somewhere at a remote AMS. Is more than likely to be in your outfit making that a domestic issue. At the very least, if you're with an outfit. You will likely out number tards around you.
...yeah vgrd try not to think about it.

oh well, if they dont have a system for the cutters, i guess i'll just have to satisfy with the ability to eject a griefer out of my vehicle, OVER A CLIFF! MUAHHHHAHAHAHA!

Mob him/her. Everyone draws a pistol and shoots him once. Everyone gets one grief point, sure, but 36 pistol shots will kill him/her.

Not here nope, Hamma changed it yesterday actually if i remember correctly.
I think the persistent environment will cut down on this behavior. There are still assholes in persistent games, of course, but you'll know who they are the next time you see them--and so will everyone else they piss off.

there will always be assholes or tkers in games thats just how it is sadly
Ok well I havent played a game where I had to stand in line for anything so can someone fill me in on what we are going to be in line for? To get gear? To load up on a drop pod?

Well I think with PS being about 10 times the size of Tribes, there won't be many lines to wait in.......

yeah, you gotta wait in line to get gear and vehicles, but i think there are a lot more places to get the stuff and lines wont be too much of a problem except on a big raid where everyone is at the same spawn point.

Of course there could be a one guy at the console, and you just tell him what you want. Saves time from a new person always going up to the console, etc. etc.
"Yea, I'd like Deliverer, extra pickels, hold the onions" :p

WTF does hold the onions mean!?
I dont want to hold the onions, I want to eat them. If Im the guy behind the counter and your telling me to hold the onions, I would throw them at you I don't want to hold no stinking onions, I want to put them on your burger or throw them in the bin, I don't want to hold them.
What a tard statement :D
rant over

I'm with Seer. This won't be much of an issue due to the fact that it's a persistant world, where everyone pays to be in it.
Also remember that all MMO's I'm aware of come with anti-harrasment laws that will allow you to appeal an asshole. If a lot of people appeal about one twatt he'll end up warned then banned.
I think the communities in PS will be like no other FPS to date.
1) Your fighting together against a common enemy.
2) You pay for it monthly.
3) You can't remain anonymous (people know you name).
4) Rank denotes experience and possibly skill.

You won't need to worry about this problem in PS, at all. (IMHO). There are going to be so many places to gear up, and when you make a vehicle..it is YOURS until you let OTHER people get in (by some option somewhere). So, your vehicle cannot ever be stolen unless it gets hacked or you let a teammate take it.
As for gear, I'm sure there are a few terminals in every place...it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

This isn't much of an issue. Two or more people can access an equipment terminal at once. Plus, there are several terminals bunched together in various places of big bases.
Also, I have two words for everyone who don't already know them: pre-saved loadouts. Take the time in Sanctuary to come up with your favorite equipment loadouts so that when you are in the field and you need to get equipped, you can do so with a single click. BAM! You're done and back into combat.
