View Full Version : Getting boring?

I'm getting bored. The MMO aspect is nice, but what keeps me coming back is trying to kill good people and I'm finding that they are hard to find.
Maybe I started on the wrong server, and maybe these good people are too spread out, I don't know.
That's my hook and I can't find it.

As of right now there isn't much replay value unless you're playing with friends. Hopefully they add more meaning to resources and bases soon.

There needs to be server transfers. I started a TR account on the Helios server without realizing it. And when I found out that most of the fights are on the Mattherson server I was mighty pissed. Especially since I have spent 20 bucks on it and there's no way to get out. What was SOE thinking? Were they?
Not so much bored as tried of certain mechanics.
I'm tired of Sunderers, tired of driving them, riding in them, shoot their shitty guns, deploying at them, destroying them, getting run over by them, just everything about them. I see them in my sleep and wake up yawning.
I wish the entire game didn't revolve around them.

I want to transfer my main nc guy to matherson, too. Connery is boring, it's too easy.

I want to run into people that just own me, constantly. Connery has zero of that unfortunately.

I am.
It seems to be a lot of
a) roll up with your outfit to a base, cap it with no or little resistance
b) get caught up in a traffic jam
c) goto a:
The fights are short, usually, and any that lasts more than 5 minutes are the exception. Now that we know how to break the tech plant defence even they are becoming less interesting.
AMP stations are a little annoying with all that running between gens.

Here's your remedy, start lone wolfing for a change and give yourself a challenge. That's what I do whenever I've had enough of repetitive outfit play.

Yes. I'm bored that I don't get enough free time to log in and play.
Sundy riding and traffic jam ? Never heard of them. Finish the fight, redeploy and spawn at the next battle, or take a leak waiting for one.
I might get bored with the game when I can get my hands on every shiny guns in the shop (30 min isn't enough), which isn't going to happen anytime soon.

I do get bored quite easily lately.
We still have the situation where it's the same old same old. Cap a base, move on, cap another. The last base but one that you capped has been recaptured, never mind, it doesn't matter. Zerg on to the next base.
I guess it will feel this way until there are enough continents for global strategy to develop and matter.
I love the gunplay in Planetside 2, but the gameplay is "meh" if I try to play for too long. I always end up looking at the map and thinking "why are we doing this?"
Planetside 2 feels like one giant perpetual Planetside 1 Interfarm at the moment unless I play it in short stints and play something else inbetween.

I was playing with a freind last night and we had four hours of rediculous fighting on connery. Of course we always went to where the fighting was at. We also used every class and drove every vehicle. I had a bunch of fun.
The fact that a few people are bored of this in 2 weeks confuses me.
Like, how do you guys stay interested in COD#12321132 or BF1232313 ?

If everybody moved to Mattherson, the complaint of the week will be "the queues are too long, what were they thinking, this game is the worst game ever".

I haven't even started recruiting for my outfit yet.
I have only joined a few squads.
Have been just lone wolfing it.
Haven't got bored. My only complaint is that the servers are laggy at times, there are tons of foreigners playing on the US servers, and the render distance and speed that people render is a joke at times.
I also think there are bugs with capturing territory, or exploits, because I have seen some wacky things. Like instaneous captures in parts of the maps that havent seen links to it in hours. I even yelled at SOE because I figured it must be a developer doing it messing with overpopulated factions. Or the map is not updating correctly.
My jetpack stops working sometimes.
My FPS drops to 45 in large battles.
My graphics flickers causing me to restart.
I run into hackers here and there.
Other then that enjoying myself a ton. I can't wait to see what comes next as far as continents, features, weapons, vehicles, etc.

Just look for a good outfit on a server with good opposition. Good friends and opponents make this game far more entertaining.

The competition and challenge for me, as with anyone else who constantly plays those frag fests. Being number 1 on the match leader board or owning a really good player.
Shooting people who can't shoot straight or just stand there, doing nothing gets boring.

I can't really say much, I only played this game for a month in beta, but from what I experienced, what I'm seeing in videos and what I hear on the forums, it seems to me that the biggest problem is the gameplay being too random.
I wrote thread previously in the idea section, where I tried to explain how the capture mechanics within hexes should be altered to direct the flow of players, while also enabling relatively small, organised groups to capture bases, even if they are greatly outnumbered.
There is a link to that thread here (http://www.planetside-universe.com/showthread.php?t=49513). But the basic idea is that (particularly in larger bases) certain capture points are locked until you capture other points within the hex. For example, D, E and F cannot be accessed unless you have either A, B or C. This way, you can predict the flow of attackers and therefore you are more likely to get a 'clash' between two sides.
In the thread I also argue that the chain of capture points you create with this system, ought to have a central point, which, if captured, will immediately flip the territory. This way, organised squads can plan a quick route to the final capture point. I think this feature would make the gameplay much more tactical for organised groups, whilst also directing all the lone-wolves to the action, rather than having them run around randomly.

The game is meant to be played with an outfit, join and outfit and you will have a load of fun

Rather not to be honest. I enjoy the freedom of bouncing around and doing different things whenever I want to.
It's fine, maybe I overreacted a bit, but it's just hard finding those great battles or running into people that made me say, whoa, he's good. Then trying to figure out an edge so I can beat him or them. I had these moments a lot in PS1. Skilled AND smart people would just flat-out whip and humiliate me, lol.
I guess most of these people, veterans as you may say, are on a certain server. Really don't feel like starting over there at the moment as I already have two characters heavily invested in.
Just hoping some of these newer people wise up and stop acting like Rambo and learn things as about 99.5% of the people I've encountered so far have this mentality, which easy to take advantage of.

Me neither! Having a good outfit makes it fun. Gotta give some more outfits some time to get their games straight and stop sucking, more challenge.

Not really bored, but most fights I am fighting in are ending up in camping the enemy spawn. You capture the control points. And then you camp the spawn to make sure nobody gets out. It is almost impossible when on the defending team to get the control points back because you are pretty much locked in your spawn building. I hope they are going to improve this since it isn't very fun. Most of the times I am playing I am mostly in a reaver flying around and killing stuff since that is more fun than camping a spawn.

...and making friends takes a little effort but not much. If you don't roll with an outfit then at least get used to hitting the Insert key when you log in, and actually say stuff to people. Even if it's straight tactics and scouting info, it helps.

I don't get really bored although I do sigh a bit when I see us fighting at a techplant and it drags on for hours.

Im having fun.
Maybe my standards of awesoness in opponents is lower than the OP.
EDIT: And im playing 99.9% solo because they wont give me an option to turn off the fucking green squad names(Im red green color blind).
If I could join squads and do tactical game play it would be really fun.

Not bored, enjoying it lots! Try getting out of your comfort zone: go sniper or go pilot if you never do these things. Try being a jetpacking, c4 dropping shotgunner.

Don't know why they haven't fixed this yet. They could do something like tint alteration like one of the old command & conquer games did.

Yes the only thing that makes this game fun is to play it with your friend. There is nothing in the game mechanics that makes you feel the need to log into the game when your not playing it. Not like evercrack, I mean everquest. And TBH I really miss that feeling. I want my games to be as addictive as crack cocaine.

A team mate contacted a server admin because he started on the wrong server from us; he also had spent station cash. When he contacted Admin about it they told him they would refund his station cash if he deleted his character and made a new one on the right server. Not sure if they do this on the norm but its worth asking about. Try putting in a ticket and ask for help than crying on here about it.
